We have been together for about 3 years and there has never been a trust issue between us before. We are both loyal. For some reason, he has been acting very questioning and suspicious towards me lately. In fact, he even opened my phone and looked at it when I went to the bathroom 2 days ago. I don't know if I did something unintentionally to make him think that. What would you do in this situation?
4.4K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Has there been any changes in the relationship? Have you both been butting heads and arguing more? It could be a lot of reasons as to why he is feeling this way now, don’t just assume he is insecure , which most couples tend to do when a partner is acting different all of a sudden , So instead of pointing fingers at him , point fingers at yourself first before making matters worse , If you know for a fact nothing has changed , then he might be the one that is up to no good and projecting his negative behavior on to you and trying to act like he is a victim when really he is the POS, Did intimacy and affection between you both die down? Have you been spending more time without him lately , like going out with you friends’ more and excluding him from things? I am just giving you examples as to why a partner might start having insecurities all of a sudden , Most men need to feel respected and wanted from his partner to feel things are ok between you both , if he isn’t feeling respected by you , than that’s possibly the reason why he is acting the way that he is. Have a sit down talk with him without arguing with him and ask him what he is feeling the way that he is. Communication is important in every relationship

Have a conversation with him about it and then consider leaving the relationship if you don't like the answer.

1 yPeople always think that everyone just likes them.
If he has trust issues from the beginning, it could be from his ex. But after 3 years, it’s weird. I’m not sure, but that maybe he hides something behind you so he thought you just like him. Or just someone is talking bad about you to him.00 Reply

What is the point of languishing in bfgf hood for years?
Men usually project. He's probably up to no good on his phone.

As a relationship coach, trust and understanding are crucial in any relationship. It's pretty spicy how relationships can suddenly feel like an episode of a detective show, isn't it? If your boyfriend is suddenly pointing fingers, it might be because of his own insecurities or fear of losing you. Talk sweet and clear, reassure him of your loyalty, and maybe find out what's lurking in his mind. A little heart-to-heart may dispel those imaginary red flags! 💖 Communication is your best wingman here!

u 1 yWe cannot know what is in his mind. Have you asked him?
00 Reply Girl, he’s probably insecure or overthinking. Maybe he’s been burned before, or he’s just projecting his own guilt. Could be something small you’re doing that he’s reading wrong too. Either way, y’all need to talk it out because no trust = no relationship. But don’t let him pin his paranoia on you for no reason!

Asker10 moYou're right, it could be insecurity or from the past. I'll talk and clarify but I won't let him blame his paranoia on me.
If your behavior has changed, even if you're not conscious of it, guys tend to notice. Hell, even if they're not conscious of it. They'll feel it.
For example, a new guy starts at your work and you find him attractive. You won't realize that you start putting in more effort into your appearance, but your man will realize it. Then, he'll start getting suspicious. Then paranoid.
This is just one example, but I've seen it a million times.10 Reply
1 yI'm not going to rule out the idea that he's cheating an projecting his own behavior onto you... but my first instinct makes me want to know what you've been doing to make him think you're cheating.
There is so much context missing that I can't even decide where to start. Did you start clubbing with the girls? Has he? Who's doing what? Who has missing time they can't really account for? ... outside of explaining that is.10 Reply
1 yWell... what's changed recently? Did you get a new job? Do you have an attractive new coworker? Did you start going to a new gym? Did you get breast implants? Start wearing more revealing outfits?
Your boyfriend probably sees this change in your behavior or circumstances, and he's worried that it means you're looking for some side action.
That's my guess, anyway.
00 ReplyI understand why you might think that. Sometimes guys can get really anxious and start overthinking things, especially if they’ve been hurt before or have trust issues. It’s not always about you doing something wrong, it’s more about them being unsure. Maybe they just need some reassurance and a calm conversation to sort things out.

Asker10 moYou're right, maybe it stems from the past. I'll try to talk calmly and reassure.
Honestly, he’s probably overthinking or letting past baggage mess with his head. Maybe he saw something innocent and twisted it in his mind. Either way, I’d say just talk it out. If he doesn’t trust you without proof, that’s his issue to fix, not yours. Trust is everything, man!
