Ladies, do men with hobbies like cooking or reading make for better partners?

For me, seeing my husband cooking is attractive as it speaks to his nurturing and attentiveness. He also started making a serious effort to learn Spanish fluently, and it’s that initiative that I find so appealing.

How do these hobbies enhance a man’s appeal in your eyes?

As a guy with some of those "hobbies" I would call some of them skills or basic adult tasks.

I write, cook, read, and am learning a language and have basic Spanish from high school.

In my experience, women prefer handy men, not guys that have these more artsy hobbies. They may appreciate them, but they like men who can fix and do things with their hands thay involve maintenance and building.

Handy men are great, but men who go against the grain with cooking and reading is sexy as hell.

Not to the majority. Cooking and reading are things everyone should know how to do as those are important life skills.

It always depends on the personality. For me, i love cooking, so my man doesn’t need to cook. And kitchen is my area and territory 😄 I don’t like other people touching my kitchen.


But read, i think the more you read the more knowledge you get.

To all men in this thread, do NOT take up a hobby just to impress a woman. You won’t be able to follow through. Take up one that interests, IF you have the time. If you work like a dog at your job, then that is your hobby, so don’t worry about it.

How is reading attractive? If it is, why did I remain single for 27 years? You're more likely to find me reading than eating. I devour books at a pace that speed readers can't even match. I've read entire shelves of library books several times over. I spend over $50 a year on books, and it's only capped at that because I reread a lot of books too.

These are basic skills most people have already. If this is the best he can do he is pretty mediocre. I know a lot of people who learned Spanish for work.

I always enjoyed cooking and it was one of the things that attracted my wife to me. I got her into it as well and now she's developed her own style.
