I think you'd be better served by exiting his life, end of story. Probably not but just to be safe he sounds like he would never stop. He might change his mode of attack like just being nasty when making comments, like nasty comments, esp. when someone else is around to further the humiliation frequently saying things that, if he's smart enough, to conceal this in a comment about something completely different. Something he knows you won't like if he brings it up along with somew excuse or put downs with words. vaya con dios now when its earlier than the next time he manipulates you.
