
Speaking of awful parents... the most famous case comes from Russia, but this is something that happened where I live as well, and startingly similar to the Russian case - a woman married her stepson whom she knew since he was 6, when the boy turned 18 she and her husband divorced and now they are married.
Usually I am not straightlaced, but I honestly feel this should be illegal and not permitted - I am not against age gaps, but marrying someone you acted as a parental figure is just wrong and I can see the kind of power disparity.
As an aside, my second country of citizenship also allows special cases of avunculate (uncle/aunt marrying niece/nephew) marriage, something you think you'd find only in the Third world but is actually permitted in many European countries. Not something I think we should be proud of...
