Why is there so much hate for men who have gaming as a hobby?

This just seems sad. I personally work in IT. Gaming as a result is part of my life, because like most people in my field, gaming is how we learned what we know about computers, and as a further result i also earn a 6 figure income. If the following image is to be believed, Gambling, A very destructive hobby, is more attractive to women. Literally all of the videos i have seen on this suggest that more productive hobbies would be better, as if women want to control how we spend our time.

Gaming is, in my opinion, better than shopping, clubbing, and virtually all of the other female dominated hobbies. Its an escape from life. Similar to reading but more engaging. Thank god i married a girl who also games. we play together.

I usually play on the weekends, often with my wife, we don't share a lot of games in common, but platforms are definitely one we play together.

Definitely nothing wrong with that. For me its mostly once or twice a week, after work, on weekends. When i really get into it though is when my wife is doing her officiating, I clean house, I cook for her, and then i game til she gets home lol, and im betting you know who this is now!!

I game pretty much everyday alone and also with my kiddos. I'm thankful to have sons because they love games too. The typical "girly" activities would bore me

Most women hate gaming because it takes time away from her , and takes time away from other things that she has racing in her head , basically her imaginary to do list that she expects you to do without her telling you , or she did tell, you but you ignored it and forgot about it lol. she doesn’t like that your attention is on a games over putting your attention on her or something else. You are lucky you married a girl that likes gaming as well , or she would have possibly made your life a living hell. Most females’ hate men that sit around period , and sadly most females’ are hypocrites when it comes down to things , She can sit in front of a tv and watch her tv shows for hours without you saying a word to her about her being lazy , but the second you turn on your gaming system you are a loser , I dated a girl that got upset every time i wanted to play a video game , and I would give it right back to her, and say well Gaming is way more productive then just sitting in front of a tv looking at it like you do , so at least I am actually doing something , she would get so pissed. cuz she knew I was right and she was wrong. Bottomline a lot of females’ do not like when their men have fun , because their attention isn’t on her or other things that she wants done , that is racing though her head like you are this mind reader that is supposed to just know those things need done without her telling you. I use to tell my wife write down the things you want done because I am either going to forget or I am going to overlook it , so stop yelling and write that shit down I am not a fucking mind reader Girls’ will overlook everything else you do for them and focus on the things that they want done instead. I would come home from work and jump right in doing chores around the house , but if it wasn’t the things she wanted done? I wasn’t a good man. Unfortunately gaming is tied with guys who are either neglectful of their partners because they game far too much or gaming has been linked to certain men who don't socialize very well because they're always gaming instead and they don't really make the best partners either.

Also certain communities in gaming have been known for being highly misogynistic and racist and homophobic.

Not all gamers obviously but enough of it stood out that as a hobby it was linked to the more toxic members of the community. It carries a Stigma. The bad elements were loud enough and the good gamers didn't police their own community hard enough. Also there are some gamers that are so defensive of gaming that anytime a woman tries to join the community they get harassed and yelled at because "girls can't game, it's for boys only" or "girls are posers, they can't game"

As always we really need to know how they carried out the survey. I am very willing to believe that if we ask women to name 10 hobbies that can be negative, gaming might take the first prize.

Just like I am very confident that if we list a bunch of actually negative hobbies, gaming would not take first anymore.

So between those answers the simple reason is that there are far more men into games than there are men into scat-art. While I also remain convinced most women would rather have a partner who games for a few hours than collects their feces and makes statues of it in your living room.

So there may be much hate, but not very deep. As a guy who does enjoy some gaming it has never been an issue relationship-wise. Keep it to normal hobby amount of hours. Make sure you remain a good-ish person. Oh and win.

Society likes to see men employed and working, generally on some stuff they seem worthy. Even though they won't always admit it.
