Boy have been raised by mothers who let them play with dolls and play dress up and didn't do anything to encourage masculine behavior, and then the boys spent time texting instead of developing social skills and learning to deal with rejection. If these guys want to wthdraw from the quest, it's their loss.

You sound like you anticipate rejection and if that shatters your self-confidence, then it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy. I know because that is the way I was several decades ago. But I wasn't doomed to always be rejected. I continue to "put myself out there," take a chance, suffer some rejection, but sometimes get some acceptance and approval. I built on that and developed much more self-confidence and now, if I was interested in dating, I could go online and have a face-to-face meeting with at least one prospect within a week.

But I'm not interested now because I'm in a long term relationship.

I don't think you're wrong, but that there's more to it than that. Changes in the nature of the rat race have made getting by a much bigger effort than it used to be; forget about getting AHEAD. Wages haven't kept pace with inflation, and the devaluation of college degrees has put almost everyone in a bad place, economically speaking. Since women are genetically driven to look for providers, few of them find most men all that attractive (on those grounds, at least), and a society that prefers parroting the words of "experts" to doing any actual reflective thinking reflexively blames men for women finding them inadequate.

With scorn, blame, and derision coming at you from every side, it only makes sense to drop out of the system and look for a life you can find your own joy and fulfillment in. If you renege on the social contract, you really shouldn't expect everyone else to keep their end of it.

I don’t believe that any guy consciously sits and thinks “hmmm, should I go out and meet a woman, and maybe get laid, or at least meet someone with whom I WILL be having sex with me and getting my dick sucked really soon… OR, should I sit home and play this video game all night?
