Does it take a big man to apologize, or just a weak one?

An apology is a situational thing.

-- An acceptance of being in the wrong.

-- An apology of bumping into someone.

-- Arguing with someone and saying something hurtful to get points.

the list continues.

A big man is one who'll apologize if he is in the wrong and will say sorry if they bump into someone etc.

To me to apologize is when you are saying sorry for something you've done that is hurtful or you were in the wrong.

To say sorry is like a "ooops sorry about that" if you bump into someone in the street or whatever.

Whether you are a big man or a weak man doesn't really affect it all that much.

If it's an apology that should be said and is used as such then a big man. If it's something that doesn't need to be said or used as means to an end then a weak or manipulative one. I think the biggest men of all are the ones that actually take action to correct or make up for the wrong they committed.

I agree with dlO_olb, it all depends on why he's apologizing - if it's just to end the argument because he doesn't want to deal with it anymore.. I would consider those actions to be of a "weak" man.

Now if he realizes he was wrong in the first place, sucks up his pride and then sincerely apologizes that's a real man.

Depends why he's apologizing. Men who apologize just to please others or to end arguments are "weak", but men who apologize sincerely because they were wrong or genuinely feel bad are "big men". Just my thoughts anyways.

Depends on the case but I do believe that most of the times it takes a big man. There's a certain type of dignity involved in a sincere apology :) When one should acrually be given :)

I would like to say, "yes", but then I think about all the guys who say sorry and don't even mean it. Does that make him a big man? I think a guy who values his words and actions is a big man.

Apologizing takes courage because you're admitting that you were wrong and you're swallowing your pride and willing to be humiliated. So it takes a big person to apologize regardless of gender. Also it depends on the severity of the violation

If it's sincere, that's a big man. I've met very few men who really apologize when they are wrong.
