How do I tell my girlfriend I'm going to become a trans woman?

I asked this question because I find myself in this situation, I am Turkish and in Turkey we have compulsory service.

To get out of military service I said I was a trans woman, I thought that would be enough and that my government would leave me alone, but they demanded that I follow the necessary steps to become a woman.

I don't know how to tell my girlfriend.
