I know that most of the time this is the case, but honestly I feel like most women think us men can't or won't enjoy their company if there's no "extra" on the table.
I like going to eat, or to the Opera, or to fancy places with female friends and relatives, and enjoy their company with that stuff off the table - not just because I don't have the inclination to cheat on my wife - but because to me that's all there it is - I am in a fancy place, enjoying fine food and drinks and perhaps a nice event with someone who hopefully shares my enthusiasm, who's well dressed and brings fine and enjoying company and not just eye candy. I try to convince my wife but she comes along 1/4 of times and her idea of romantic evening is sitting on the couch eating takeout and watching TV or playing PlayStation games.
And yet I had a couple of cases of dates assuming I was interested in something more. I am not and I find that a bit offensive, honestly.
