Should you always follow your mum’s advice?

I asked my mum if someone was hitting on me, a man and she said yes, of course he is.

She then warned me that it wouldn’t be good for me to date him and that everyone’s warned me. There’s something wrong with him.
He said he was acting strangely because he’d had a fight with his mum. He apologised for everything and is acting more normal now.

I have noticed that my mum doesn’t seem to want me to date men. When I’ve had a casual relationship, she was talking me out of it, telling me he was no good. When I had a long distance boyfriend, he was lazy.

Other boyfriends I had were no good, either. She’s told me I’d be better off staying single. I know she’s worried about me, because I have mental health issues that stop me from working. She’s afraid that I’ll end up trapped in an abusive relationship. On the other hand, I want a boyfriend, I’m an adult and I think I’d like to get to know this man better.
