That's a huge red-flag. That's not in any way a normal thing for a guy to say. That is legitimately scary. You should find it scary. Whether he would actually be suicidal or homicidal is besides the point (well its not, but its not the main point)

The point is that he said it (and that he thought it).

The proper reaction to this, is to be scared. It's an extremely worrying thing for anyone to ever say (whether they mean it or not)
