Alcoholic Boyfriend?

My boyfriend of 2 years dumped me over text 8 weeks ago. He said he had no interest and needed space/break. He had a history of childhood issues after his parents divorced and both abandoned him as a teen. He also blames his friends suicide on him moving away. Last night after 8 weeks no contact, he texted me last night. He has told me he is an alcoholic and called it off to protect me. He sent me pictures of him crying in a hotel room. He has hid it for months from his family by staying in hotels drinking vodka. He hasn't told anybody else. What do I do? I told him I don't hate him and that he needs to get help, plus tell his mom but worried now when I'm the only one who knows. Please help as we live 3 hours apart

That isn’t your problem anymore and neither is he. If you feel emotionally inclined to at least say something then let it be advising him to seek professional help and to be forthright with his friends and family so that they can be there for support because he’s going to need it. But after that, wash your hands of him and that drama. For as much as I’m sure you’d like to support him you’ve got to protect yourself first and foremost. This isn’t your storm to weather with him, you’re not his girlfriend anymore and honestly with this on the table you may not want to be. He’s got inner healing and self work to do.

First of all it's good that your away from him. Now it's up to him he needs help if he can't do it on his own. If he loves you he has to prove it to himself. Then to you by doing what he needs to do to prove it. And it doesn't happen in 2 days 2 weeks or 2 months. It takes time because the odds of him relapsing is high. Do you drink if so maybe that's why you never noticed. It's going to take time. And the issues that he us talking about might be real might not but now that he has brought them up he has to deal with the one by one to get to the real reason. Nothing you can really do , he has to choose to get help on his own so you are best to let him figure that out on his own , unless you want to be pulled down to his level and get brought into a world of depression
