I know social media played a big part on damaging the foundations of rel by feeding our heads with nonsense by making , by making people think grass is greener on the other side. On top of that, it also contributed to people having much higher standards as well with having a bunch of options to choose from , Dating sites are all about swiping instead of actually getting to know someone, yes attraction is important but attraction shouldn’t just be based off of looks , it takes more than just looks to fully give your heart to someone. Cheating and affairs are occurring a lot more as well because people aren’t happy and content anymore with what they already have in front of them. I know a lot people that cheated just because things weren’t going their way , so instead of fixing what was broken , they run to someone else. My wife and I been together for over 20 years and before social media was even really a thing. Once people started getting addicted to social media apps , it seems relationships took a turn for the worst. I know
Mine did when my wife got addicted to Facebook. The good husband and father I was , didn’t mean shit anymore , because her selfishness took the better of her , by thinking she deserved better than what she already had in front of her. I know couples that went through similar shit like I did , with having a happy marriage and everything going good for them , but then it all crashed because of selfishness

When thinking 🤔 about how to answer your questions, I first considered the ages of the people who are members of GaG. If I were in my 20's-30's, I probably wouldn't even know what traditional values used to be unless someone told me, like grandparents and older family members; or maybe by being around grandparents to witness a traditional marriage.

You should take into consideration that for the younger generations the only way they have learned anything about love and relationships was from looking at a screen with a strangers words telling them what they need to be like and what the other person needs to be like.

Even their parents are on social media getting ideas about different options they have - which older, more traditional relationships did have and were made to look like.

Perhaps one of the most prevalent reasons that relationships aren't life lasting anymore is because there are just too many options to choose from.

Traditional relationships, in my opinion, were great! Love meant something different back in the old days. There weren't any electronics in relationships feeding people's brains with options. Love came from deep in your heart. It was how you felt about the other person and you wanted to spend your entire life with that one person. People did spend 40-70 years together until one of them passed away.

I do believe that traditional values in relationships have fallen by the way side. It's like anything goes these days. Shoot, if you aren't satisfied with the gender you were born with - you can change that too if you choose to do so.

Unfortunately we can't unring a bell so we can't go back to traditional values anymore because the old traditional values have been replaced by social media information - which is fluid and changes constantly.

Yeah. Maybe some women have shitty men and shitty marriages and social media shows what a better relationship should look like. Maybe that's why. Men are so lazy in relationships. The love and affection dries up and the woman loses her sex drive as a result making the man fed up and the cycle goes round.

I think "old married couples" of older days that stayed together forever just presumed this was normal and put up with it. How classic is it of the women of old gathering to complain of their pig headed husbands and husbands gathering to complain of their nagging prune wives?

People just accepted poor standards. Or women did should I say. Relationships work less now because women know they have choices. Or at least, social media tells them they do. It's actually not that easy. Because you are right too that everything is about attraction and the next best thing now and even tho those couples of old bitched about eachother I'm sure there was probably a comfort and security there too especially in the very end of old age. When the man finally appreciates the woman for putting up with him all those years.

Both sides need to be better people and social media won't drive apart something good.

You seem confused.
There are too many false claims in your post.
Relationship values aren't based on tradition or social media, but rather instinct, emotions, and logic.
People aren't viewing the grass as greener on the other side of the fence with regard to relationships in most cases.
Most people have unreasonably low standards today.
Having more options is a good thing when choosing a partner.
Dating sites that have public stock shareholders are legally required to be scams, and so most people today do not use them.
Looks, personality, and emotional attachment are, and always were, a factor in choosing, nothing changed there.
Cheating and affairs were always a thing but the internet removed a substantial amount of privacy, so its much harder for people to hide it, making it seem more common. And on yop of that people go online to vent, making it appear even more common because most people's brains can't grasp percentages of populations.
Most people are married and don't cheat or leave their spouse.

Social media gets a lot of blame, but it usually just brings things to the surface that were already brewing underneath. If your wife got hooked on Facebook, there was probably something missing or unaddressed way before the app ever showed up.

A 20-year marriage doesn’t unravel because someone got “selfish.” It unravels when real issues get ignored or brushed aside. And when you’ve been together since your 20s, it’s normal for people to grow and shift. That kind of long term relationship takes consistent work and awareness, not just assuming being a good provider is enough to hold it all together.

As society/economy evolves & changes, so much dating norms. Its unrealistic to expect dating requirements to be like the 1950s. Guys don't make that kind of money anymore, everyone is strunggling to make base minimum for survival in human society in the USA, and expecting guys to make enough for a 5-10 person family is unrealistic, especially the "treat her like a queen and pay all of her bills", expectation...

A successful has less to do with marrying "the love of your life" but rather someone who is determined to make the marriage work. If you marry someone who is constantly looking for someone better than the last, the chances of your marriage lasting is very low

I think the answer is yes. But let's face it every generation thinks the following generation is destroying traditional values. The 70s the roaring 20s the 90s. From flappers to ozzy osbourne society always claims value erosion. So realistically like language and clothing. Society is just constantly evolving. online has worked for various people I've met, not for me. I'd ditch it in favor of meeting people in person. if you can make friends, get dates and such by way of your character, values, charisma... referals from others that you have impressed... that's a great ticket. so got to get out and meet people all over in all walks, places you've never been.

that's how you do it.

Then, your energy is good, people pick up on that, and can find someone anywhere.

Easy and frustrating maybe, so you have to change your mindset to enjoy where you are and what you've got. people are drawn to positive.

Most people don’t value them anymore which is why most of their relationships end badly, men want to take female roles in relationships example that 50/50 bs AND vise versa.. it’s simply not how it’s meant to be— hense why most relationships don’t work anymore + ^ divorces rates + people leave with traumas& lessons 🤯! Nah, there's plenty of people with traditional values.. It's just that they're all mixed up and I believe that people have overemphasized traditional values as something set in stone for a good relationship/marriage.. I just think that social media has allowed more people to become self centered and to put themselves first and almost only.. They want the illusion & fantasy of a relationship.. A lot of online influencers are romanticizing the “cute bread-making house wife in sun dresses” and stable and healthy (not toxic) masculinity. I think society is slowly realizing that’s what we need and deeply desire at the end of the day..
