What do you think about a woman who wants to just be a housewife and raise kids and not work as her highest ambition?

“Just” isn’t a word to used for someone who will be tending to children. That’s a full time job that never has a vacation date, contractual end date, lunch break, etc…. Who is this saint of a woman who is willing to have all these babies and keep house for you? Snatch her up before someone else realizes she exists and takes her off your hands.

Housewives were probably amazing when all our appliances weren't automated and you could afford a nice life on a single income. Before my time.

Several women I grew up around wanted to be housewives and many of them achieved their goal of having multiple children. Most of them have 4-5 kids now and seem happy with their life choices. Much more so than women who chose the career path and have been through multiple divorces.

The problem is the women who are 30+ when they've been in the workforce a few years and THEN decide they don't like it and want to live their domestic fantasy when they've lost the majority of their prime - childbearing years. After living their Sex and the City dreams until they turned into a nightmare. Nah, you don't get to have your cake and eat it too. Compete in that game when you're young and hot.

There's nothing wrong with that at all, as long as she can cook, sew, do all the housework and shopping, and do a great job of teaching and caring for the kids.

My mom was a great housewife and mother. She was no slouch. For her, it was a full-time job.

I like the idea as long as she understands that being a housewife is a whole job too. I'm waiting for the day my Partner tells me I no longer have to go to work and can just be a Housewife. I have a job that doesn't require me to go to work everyday so I happen to have a lot of free time. On days I'm home I do laundry, shop for groceries, prepare homecooked meals, clean the kitchen and dishes and tidy up the house a bit and I love it. We still have a maid every three weeks to do proper cleaning but in general we both keep the house pretty tidy.

@EmmaMary I will only stop working if my Partner tells me we're now comfortable enough for me to stop working and just be a housewife. As of now when we have kids I'm supposed to go back to work within 50 days, I'll see how I feel if I feel that corporate life is not for me anymore I'll tell my Husband.

It’s her choice. I’d just recommend she find a rare gem she can trust not to screw it up or trifle with her in any way. Which is a very slim chance any way you slice it.
