Is it normal for a woman to not want kids so she can focus on her career?

My girlfriend doesn't want kids so she can focus on becoming a lawyer and making a career out of it. She desires to be a career driven woman and believes that having kids will just be a distraction for her that she doesn't want.

Many people, men and women decide not to have children for different reasons, when it is a choice an option and decision they make and take then it should be fine for them. That's the life they want to live.

Maybe this is something she doesn't want at the moment or the near future, maybe later in life she changes her mind about it, and that's absolutely fine as well.

But you're here now and so is she, seems like you're both young and she doesn't want children being this young, do you? if you want kids this badly at a younger age, or you already decided that you want them in a near or distant future, then should know that you and her might not work out.

Then that is a very good reason to not become one. And that is fine too.

Meanwhile, she thinks having a career is more important than having a family.

Having a career is more important TO HER than having a family, that's a fair statement if that's who she really is and wants to be, after all... she only has her own life to live.

And I somewhat agree to it but in the sense that certain careers and goals do demand a lot of focus, time and dedication, so children or family can wait, or maybe never come if that is just not what you want for yourself.

As for yourself, I don't know why you say you would be a bad parent, but you can always focus on yourself, better up yourself, and just be functional in society while you look after yourself, and for your girlfriend too in this case, nothing wrong with that.

I mean I like kids, but there's a huge difference between watching my little cousins for a little while versus raising kids 24/7, I'm not sure I'm up to that task. I'd rather not have to worry constantly about this or that when it comes to taking care of children.

I've know a few people who were highly irresponsible and even destructive, and stuff like that... the kind of guy you do not want to see taking care of children, yet... the moment they held their first child, things changed, it was not right away, it wasn't magic... it was gradual and it took time (few years) but they diefinitely turned into very good parents, loving ones especially which is very important, and they have provided well. Not everyone is automatically prepared or ready by default to be a parent.

And then we never know what will happen in the future, many parenthoods are not planned at all and they just happen and then you just step up to it, because that's what you have to do. That is life too.

It's all about age range. That's perfectly normal for women in their twenties and early thirties. It becomes a little more rare when you get into the later thirties.

Some woman do not want kids and use career as an excuse because saying you want to earn money sounds better than saying you are too selfish and lazy to change diapers and breastfeed.

Yes lots of career women in America are that way ESPECIALLY bc the US is so backward about paid maternity leave next to many of the 1st world progressive countries.
