So... are humans Stupid, Evil, or Both?

Humans in general that is. Is the way people will fuck up their own lives and the lives of others around them simply because they're too stupid to know better... is there arbitrary maliciousness mixed in... or do people know full well that they're doing wrong and just do it anyway?

I'm a misanthrope, and, I think, with good reason. I used to call humanity a virus, but even that seems too positive of a description. Humans are the only species that will actively work against their own best interest, both out of petty spite, as well as sheer ignorance.

Sure, there are other species that attack each other, but never without a reason. They are either defending themselves, or seek to gain in some way. Humans will do it just because they hate someone else, and will actively undermine themselves, in order to do so.

Granted, there are a few good people out there, but good people are rarely rewarded, while those that are terrible people generally benefit from their actions.

Humans are also the only species that can discover something beneficial, but refuse to take advantage of it, because of conspiracy theories. We are letting our own ignorance harm us, and not only is a large percentage of people happy about that, but are actively working to make it worse.

I just don't understand human beings.
