If you were ever lucky enough to find a pearl in the sea would you keep it, sell it or gift it? And why?

The very first time I went oystering I found one. It was small and teardrop shaped and probably worthless. Years later, I still have it.

Today, all pearls used in jewelry are "cultivated". That means the oyster is opened and a plastic bead is inserted upon which the pearl is grown. It's an industrial process that has made the value of pearls necklaces akin to beads on a string. Even if mine had been a perfectly formed, completely natural pearl, it's hard to imagine it being worth the energy to locate a buyer who is interested in purchasing just a single one.

If it was a pearl, I'd gift it because it's a great way to let someone know they are special. I wouldn't keep it because you can get pearls anywhere. Only clams can make them out of sand, but still their made of sand. On the other hand, if I got a Japanese glass float from the shore, you'd best believe I'd keep that! It's valuable, it's my dream, plus if they stop making them in the future and I'm struggling, chi-ching lol!

If my crush/best friend hadn't stopped talking to me, I would've given it to her. Now, I might sell it depending on how much it was worth, but I might keep it too since I'm a biology nerd. On second thought, I'd probably keep it unless i was desperate for money. I might save it for someone special
