Who was your greatest love and why did you fall in love with them?

I would not say it was my greatest love, but my deepest love was the first time I fell in love at the age 18 and it wasn't because the person was amazing in any special way, more than that they were the first Christian guy who exhibited concern for me in a way that was beyond the limited levels of concern normal friends give you.

While I had people who loved me before I met him, their love was always tainted and corrupted by their own selfishness, my dad made it very clear, he would love me less if I gained 3 pounds, and love me more if I lost 3 pounds, and their respect was conditional on my academic performance and I could never meet their standards.

To be around somebody who loved me and did not care what my grades were, did not constantly tell me I was fat, was not embarrassed by me, was something that nobody else in my family had ever done for me. My dad worships this reputation so much, I think he would rather die than face embarrassment and he would embarrass me with lies to protect his own reputation.

That’s very sweet. I feel the same way, although maybe it was infatuation or childish love, but the deepest for me was also the first guy I loved. He made me feel so safe, respected and beautiful and genuinely welcome in a new environment, it was hard not to fall for him. It can get really tough when love from your primary caregivers is also conditional, so being chosen and seen in such a non performative way can feel very special.

I don't know if I could classify her a "love", but she is the closest I have to it. Crush, infatuation, and even limerence don't accurately describe my feelings and thoughts towards her. The entire thing was mostly unintentional on my end. I thought she was beautiful, so I always took notice of her. This was a lot for a few months. Almost everything she did I found attractive, and nothing ever scared me away. As time went by, I became extraordinarily attracted to her.

Yes finding someone that wears my shoes the same way she expects me to wear hers , with love and respect and honesty, a girl that stands by my side through the good times and bad times, a girl that knows what it means to be in a relationship, that is loyal and faithful and isn’t selfish.

I hear you and those are all fair expectations if you’re willing to match them as well. I think two people genuinely committing to each other and wanting to be the best person for each other is rare, probably why not many people experience a great love these days, just lust or infatuation. The old school values that make it great are sadly less common now.

Yea , it’s a shame how things changed for the worse instead of the better these days. A long lasting relationship is based off of trust and respect and honesty and sadly most people these days have a hard time doing that for each other , Selfishness is one of the main reasons relationships do not make it , if you can’t remove selfishness for your partner, do not expect them to remove it for you , it needs to go both ways for any relationship to last. I blame social media for a big part of the reason that people have become more selfish , and constantly thinking the grass is greener on the other side , only wanting what they feel is best for themselves, without factoring in their partners’ feelings. Never been in love. I have always been single. Generally it is said that " It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all".

However, given that for me protecting myself is utmost important than to explore the uncharted territory of love so for me the exact opposite of the above saying is true.
