What is the difference between gratification and engagement in the context of relationships?

I look at gratification as being kind of selfish

The day I lost my virginity i was lucky because it was with the 19-year-old, I was 16 and a 1/2 17, and when we were finished, she said it was good, I didn't think so. I thought we were supposed to see fireworks
She was on spring break from college

She called me up again and asked me to come over and I did then we did it again.
Actually two more times

And both times she said it was good, but for me. I felt it wasn't. I mean it was good but it wasn't what I thought it was gonna be like

And she thought I was funny because she said it was good , and she was because she did it more than me that was not my third time

But a couple days before she had to go back to school. She called me up and said her mom was gonna be gone Saturday for me. To come over so I did

And she can see that my eyes , she would laugh at me , because I couldn't stop thinking about it , I had to figure it out

Well, on the fourth time I changed everything. I could have been just gratified that I got to do it.

But after we got finished on the fourth time. She looked at me and I looked at her and she said, I seen fireworks and I said so did I.
So when I say I was lucky.
That was very lucky because.
I got to do it 4 times and each time made it a little bit better. But on the fourth time I learned a valuable lessand that is you have to make it all about the person that you're with

You\nHave to be able to read her eyes. The color of her cheeks, the way she breathes the way she moans the way she moves. Because she's talking to you without saying one word

So if I didn't get to do it four times I might not have ever figured that out for a long while

Be engaged.
Means making it all about the person you're with. And from that day to this day, I've done nothing but keep learning and learning and learning.

So for me it's more than being engaged. I mean, you have to become one.
With every single touch every breath with every part of your being

And since we are all made of energyou become one with energies. Where your spiritual energies, and when you can dial that in then every time you make love have sex, f***, whatever you have an out of body experience when you're finished, that just takes you into the whole completely different world. And in that world, you learn the true meaning of love of giving of yourself.\n Is so spiritual? It's unbelievable. It changes your life because when you wake up. From that out of body experience, you don't know where you are all of a sudden, you look around and you realize, oh, I'm in my room or wherever you just had the best sex ever.\n And for the last past 20 to 30 minutes, while in this out of body experience You're in the most beautiful place

Basically the perks of the position


Engagement is the things you do for that relationship.
Basically the work that position requires


I think engagement does lead to gratification but it shouldn’t be the only thing that’s sought after.
Or at least not selfishly.
Shared gratification is a better thing to aim for.

I think gratification is like when we both do something we know we are going to enjoy together. Engagement is when you want to go shopping and I don't but I go anyway. I try to have a good time with you even thou it's not what I wanted. Engagement is like looking at long term goals; where as gratification is like I'm glad you like a lot of the things I do, so i don't have to always "go shopping". Lol
