Have you ever been the one to end a relationship?

In this case I am not necessarily just referring to a love relationship. It could be a friendship or even work collaboration. And so if you've ever had end it first because it was no longer in line with you personally, was it easy? Reframing the question: how difficult is it for you personally to end a relationship?

With girlfriends, I was always the one who walked away with one exception.

When I was 34, I rented a house with a 31 year old who was near the end of divorce proceedings. She always talked about what a monster her husband was.
Things were great for close to 8 months, but I started realizing that she had serious emotional problems.
One day we had an argument. A couple days later, I came home from work and she had moved out all of her stuff and some of mine, including $500 I had set aside for rent.
I later heard that she was telling people that I was a monster.

With my other girlfriends, it was just a matter of my not wanting to settle down.

In regards to friends, it was usually a matter of us gradually growing more distant and eventually not contacting each other anymore.

However, in 2002, my wife and I moved to this area and wound up attending a liberal, nondenominational, Unitarian Universalist church in order to meet people.
Things went great for years. I met some of the best people I had ever met and became best friends with quite a few.
But in 2016, the congregation went full Democrat and started embracing all the "woke" issues - BLM, white privilege, trans rights, climate change, etc.
Then, in 2020, they swallowed the covid hysteria hook, line and sinker. When I opposed the eugenics jabs in 2021, it was the last straw. A bunch of people with whom my wife and I had been best friends and had a lot of fun with abandoned us.

I've ended many toxic friendships. And I ended my last relationship I was in because she did not communicate what was on her mind, no matter how much I urged and encouraged her.

Yes, a few times when I realized the girl I was with was toxic and a liar and a cheater as well. When a partner brings constant negativity into your life , you are best to walk the other way and realize you deserve someone that wants to bring happiness into your life , not saying it’s always going to be perfect and happy but the happiness needs to outweigh the misery. Me personally hates liars and cheaters and selfish people. I had my fair share of selfish girls’ that only truly cared about themselves and what they could receive from me and take me for granted , I show her the door and tell her to get the fuck out of my life if she betrays me in any which way. I will not stay on a relationship with someone that doesn’t respect me and value me the same way I do for her , it needs to go both ways or it’s not going to last whatsoever. So many people say they want loyality and commitment and love , but the second the receive it , they eventually destroy it or sabotage it. When a partner can disrespect you , criticize you and belittle you , you are best to open your eyes and kick them to the curb where they belong , a relationship is suppose to be 2 people prioritizing each other over everyone else , if you are not a top priority on your relationship, you are just wasting your time with that person because all they like is the convenience of you while keeping their options opened , Get rid of them ASAP and realize you deserve to be someone’s priority

I have occasionally ended the relationship, but most of the time the woman has done that. Only once was it unexpected though.

I have a little question as a guy breaking up with a girl is definitely hard because girl's tend to take it harder even if she is a friend they take it more personal and if they get hurt they want some kind of revenge or will lash out especially in person so as I had to wouldn't say it was easy because it kinda ended up painful for both in the end. I've been broken up with and I was fine. So I guess to personally It was not difficult but should have been more considerate I guess but I understood as she said I hope you regret it so let's just say it hurt but it made her feel better I guess.

I don't think I've ever ended a female relationship in real life, though a female did make a point of ending a relationship with me, when I was hoping for a long term relationship with her.

On GAG's a number of people have ended our relationship by blocking me, for no reason that I know of.

Also a number of people have stopped following me on GAG's for unknown reasons, and I had to replicate the action ending our friendship rather than be blocked.

Also I have followed people on GAG's, and they have shown no interest in following me, or no interest in contacting me. This isn't a relationship and it was easy to terminate, or be blocked by the person because they couldn't unfollow me.

I would find it very difficult to end a relationship, and the only ones I can think of are work related, when I've decided to give my notice.

Yes I did it few times. I sold it always as mutual advantage. I emphasized differences and incompatibilities while taking big part of responsibility for failing in many things on me. This worked few times but in few cases those people thought I tricked them. However deep inside they knew if I want get rid of them there is no force in this universe to stop me. At the end it was just my decency and polite behavior to make it human as possible.

Yes, I've had to when it was clear that the relationship wasn't going anywhere. I've had to take that decision and it's not something pleasant. You're faced with the decision of making someone sad and make her cry, or on the other hand stay and wait for the inevitable mutual break-up.

And once when I quit my last job (basically ending the working relationship with the people there)


But ultimately if it’s happening it’s usually best for everyone at some point
