Personally, I would not have been in favor at all for having an arranged marriage. But I understand that in some cultures this is actually very common and customary. I used to work with a guy who was from Egypt, and his marriage was arranged by his and his wife's parents. He was not happy with his marriage. Also, there were two guys who worked for the same company as me, who were both from Ethiopia. I remember someone asked them, that if they went back to visit and their parents had wives picked out for them, would they marry them. RIght away without any hesitation they both said that yes they would! Because, in their words, "who else would know better than your parents who would be a good choice for you". In our culture here in the US that would be considered to be ridiculous. LOL
