One reason is other dark personalities they love and feed off the drama. They like being able to play the victim… but they choose to stay in unhealthy relationships because they are toxic themselves. They like the games they like the drama. They like being the victim.

Now. Why do good people stay with narcissists? Not just in romantic relationships. Family and friendships.

Well. Good people tend to project themselves onto other people. People rationalize sometimes they believe the narcissists lies, excuses, and justifications. As well as make their own rationalizations in their heads. They don’t want to accept it even if deep down they seen this persons true colors.

If they can come up with plausible exclamations as well as reasons behind things that aren’t nefarious. They believe it. They don’t want to see that someone really is just a shitty person.

Because they have low self esteem about themselves and they are afraid to be lonely or their os children involved so they stay for the kids’ sake

People don’t stay with narcissists because they’re stupid, they stay because there’s an emotional bond that’s hard to break.

Sometimes they keep hoping the ‘good version’ they saw in the beginning will come back.

Sometimes they’re stuck in the cycle of manipulation, love bombing, gaslighting, then the ‘peace’ phase.

Others stay because they’re scared of being alone, scared to start over, or because their confidence has been worn down over time.

At the end of the day, people don’t stay because the love is healthy, they stay because the dynamic is hard to escape.

The truth is these people can’t empathize. They don’t understand what emotional connections are like.

If they just love someone enough. If they are just a better man or woman. They will change. They can save them:::: and the narcissist for short periods of time will make it seem like you are.

Exactly, they read compassion as weakness, and that’s where the disconnect begins.

Empathic people assume everyone feels love and accountability the way they do.

Narcissists don’t.

They only understand benefit and control.

So the empath keeps giving, thinking it’s progress.

And the narcissist keeps taking, thinking it’s proof they can get away with anything.

It’s not stupidity on the empath’s part, it’s sincerity placed in the wrong hands.
