What would prompt you to take someone from your past back?

I've always said, "Your ex is your ex for a reason." I've never thought it was a good idea to go back to something that broke. But I've seen couples recently go back and forth a few rounds before finding their equilibrium... and things work out.

What would persuade you to try again with someone from your past?

The only reason would be that I somehow found out they changed at their core. The reason a past partner didn't work out is that they didn't align in some important aspect or aspects. So unless that aspect or aspects have changed, I see no way it would work this time.

It's not likely it would ever happen. I don't believe people change at their cores unless they go through some traumatic experience in life.

The passage of time and an assessment that it didn't work the first time because of circumstances which no longer exist. I was in that position once, took her back, and of course it didn't work the second time, either.

I wouldn't. The things they did showed me who they really are, and I wouldn't insult myself taking them back. If they apologized I would accept it, but still not reconnect. Lots of people say sorry all the time but still do the same thing again later.

I made the mistake of taking an ex back, once, and it went so well that I now refer to her as my "double-ex" 'cause I broke up with her twice.

Lesson learned.

In hindsight... not a good reason for a second chance. 😔
