I think family is always best that’s the one thing that gets you through live careers can always and will drop you and when you fall family is there bieng a military man I learned this the hard way the army never cared for anything that benefited me just them I missed so much with my wife life.. and I can’t get that back but hey got great fucked up stories.

I want my partner to have a career, but their primary focus should be their family, especially any kids we have. This doesn’t mean they can’t work late sometimes or go on business trips (I’ll probably do those things too), but not all the time.

You'd think so, and yet there are so many people (especially women) who tend to end up with men that are married to their work and rarely have time for them or family

They can be opposites but they do not need to be if you have a good understanding between the two of you. My short answer would be, career focused at least while we are young. My longer answer would be, I want him to be motivated by me and our family to be successful in his career for all of our sake. But if you HAD to choose between the two (which you do not always), family comes first. Maybe it sounds like I am trying to say “both” but that isn’t what I mean, I hope I am explaining myself well which I probably am not. Anyway JMO!
