Is there anything you would ONLY think to share with "The One"?

Hi Guys and Gals,

I've always been the sort to share a lot of myself with my community -- in the sense that if I commit to a community project, they have my heart and soul. But recently someone asked me if I've left anything aside for "The One" and no one else?

It was a funny sort of question. "The One"? I'm not a little kid reading Cinderella as I fall asleep and dream of prince charming... And frankly, I've met the Prince Charmings and all they have going for them is charisma. If I'm saving parts of myself for someone it would have to be a fellow better than "Prince Charming." "Prince Mature" or "Prince Community Service" would have to be out there looking for a gal like me. We'd have to keep up with each other.

I guess when I was younger I saved a part of my heart for "the one" and carved space for that "Prince Charming" as he claimed the right to be in my life... a life we were supposed to share forever. But "Charming" doesn't have staying power to navigate big choices or challenges. When faced with them "Charming" ditches to where his primary skill shines... he becomes "Prince Cheating," "Prince Using," "Prince Nothing"... and what little girl ever learns that?

So I redirected... giving all my energy to others, leaving nothing for myself, which is possibly not great, but it was the only way to shake the great bum "Charming" off my path and out of my life.

Would I save all my energy up for a new guy? If I'm being brutally honest with myself... probably not. The wide-eyed girl laughing in the sun is still in here, but she belongs to the world, not to one guy. God made me for something else, which was a hard lesson Charming taught me.

Would I SHARE my time and energy with a new guy? Yes, if he's kindly and mature enough to handle it... meeting me where I stand and walking forward with me.

I would be transparent about everything and anything and completely vulnerable with that special woman. As Tears for Fears once said I would "let it all out" I know I'm dating myself but who cares lol. I would share things with her that I would not share with the world. I don't share the most intimate and personal things about myself with just anybody. To me it should be reserved for that special woman and not on display for the whole world who does not care for me or know me on a personal level. I'm old-fashioned as in I like the thoughts of intimacy which is in my mind sharing 100% of yourself with that one other person. Otherwise the woman I would be with would know nothing more than people I don't know or care about would know. Just my thoughts

You could do what I'm doing. I don't save something for someone. I just put my all in what I'm currently doing or relationship. Then continue on.

Truthfully, other than body (physical intimacy), I don't think there's anything unique that we'd share. I'm a pretty open person with every one of my friends and family that I trust.

While there isn't anything unique I share with only them other than body, there are still differentiating factors when I'm in a relationship with someone. They are THE ONE I GIVE MOST OF MY TIME TO. They become MY MAIN PRIORITY as well. Although I'm open with everyone, I tend to share things with more ease with them like insecurities, embarrassing moments in my life, or times I'm sad. But they're also the first to know about moments of happiness, excitement, gratitude, etc.

A partner is someone who you know is the first person there to support you and vice-versa

Well I do tend to be a bit guarded with most people. However with the "one" (if I ever actually meet her) I would hope I could be completely transparent. So with that in mind I could share the "entire" me with her. So in that regard I would say yes. Does this make sense?

Yeah, totally. I did that with my Prince Charming, though, so watch your back, no matter who the gal is.

Lol. That's sweet. You're young. It's not an easy thing to explain. I guess it's just something you'll understand when you understand.

I'm saying in my older and wiser years it's healthier to keep the 80/20 rule firmly in place. There's such thing as oversharing.

No. There's no part of me I've saved. I generally give to many of the people in my life: good friends, family. There's no deep well of "me" I've been saving up because I don't think, in general, there's only one person. Or, I haven't met him.

There are all forms of people in life who you can share with, and who give back to you. I give to them when the time presents itself!

Which to me is the only true answer to that question. Since it really is the only thing your genuinely gonna share with the person you decide to share the rest of your life with.

I'm saving all personal issues from my childhood. I dont mind general conversations about my childhood but I would not share details about certain situations
