6 moIn real life I have felt forced to do so because the man I was involved with was against me keeping photos of just the two of us, never mind if traveling photos, holidays, but I have kept those where he is photographed alongside other people I care about. My ex told me he kept the albums of us somewhere else than the home to keep the peace and to my best knowledge I don't think there are photos of us online anymore. I was totally fine with the photos before as I had no romantic feelings left or much bitterness and I had forgotten mostly I had them and where I had them and where others such as family members and friends had them, if they did. It was from my longest lasting relationship and I would say for most of the time good years in my life. I don't regret them or regret the experience as it taught me about life and love. I think today that it should have been my decision what to keep or not as the important thing is what I felt about my past with my ex is what mattered, not the photos themselves, if I had moved on or not. They could have burned up in a fire and it is still not what determines how you feel about someone or not. There could have been times when instead of photos being taken there never was, it still doesn't matter, but try explaining that to someone who's jealous of your past. Ironic when that someone had a past of his own and how he related to it, photos or no photos.

No! Why would I? That would be like giving up part of my life. They were not bad memories. It is that I move on to another stage of my life.

There were no cell phone cameras before I got married, so I don't have any previous girlfriends on my phone. But I do treasure the few photos of girlfriends I had when I was young. I wish I had photos of all of them. The ones I do have, I transferred to files in my laptop. I don't want to delete my life's memories. I cherish them.
I had a wonderful life that didn't begin when I got married. My wife and I just built wonderful, additional memories over the past 31 years. I cherish them all. It's all part of my life.00 Reply
1.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. No I would never. What guarantee do I have that the relationship will last forever? Why can't I keep the memories of my former lovers? So i'd never be willing to delete data for anyone, I can agree not to look at them during the relationship since thats only natural. I can agree to store it away somewhere. But I can't agree to deleting my past.

6 moI'd find it very strange if my partner has pictures of them and their past partner if they're over them. Out of respect for my future partners, I delete all images of my exes. I have nothing related to them other than maybe gifts like clothing that they gifted me. I'm not gonna toss a good sweater just because my ex gifted it to me.
I'm honestly taken aback by how many people in the comments are saying they keep the pictures of their exes. I personally find it to be a sign of immaturity and not being willing to let go of the past and move on.
Imagine your partner occasionally looks back at their photos of their exes and reminisces about the past, potentially thinking they wish they were with them rather than you. It's not an insecurity to assume that's the case. It's logical. Otherwise, what reason would they have to look back on them?
I would not knowingly date a girl who keeps photos of her exes.
00 Reply 4.6K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Yes, I delete them out of respect for someone new in my life , an ex is an ex for a reason , so deleting their pictures isn’t a hard task to do

6 moNope. I save all pictures. Contact info too. It's a part of my life history, and I may put their picture in my autobiography.

m 6 moWhen my first long term relationship ended, I gave all the pictures to a good friend. A year later, I asked him to give back this envelope to me, then I abandoned it under a bench, in a park.
I totally regretted that after, years after, when keeping memories became important to me.
These days, my ritual, after a breakup, consists in wiping out all pictures but one, I'm keeping just one picture of us. To preserve this moment in time when everything was still peaceful.

6 moNo ! , why would I? .. because the relationship failed? … but they happened , there were good times , experiences shared , some great memories. Deleting them seems immature and redundant as if to deny they happened or refuse to acknowledge them. They live on as memories or at the very least worthy reminders

6 moIt feels like ages since the last time a girl sent me her picture. Anyways I never kept the one's that were sent to me. Those Women lived so far away from me we couldn't date, and always felt those online friendships were not going to last, and they didn't either.

6 moI will change profile picture or wallpapers if they are in them but I won't go through my gallery or social media to remove them all
20 ReplyYeah, but simply deleting isn't enough, the temptation to check the trash bin is always there. Better to just Shift + Delete.

6 moDo you mean nudes or just normal pictures? If it is normal, there is no need to delete it. The fact that a relationship is ended, doesn't mean the person is useless.
10 Reply11.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Absolutely not that’s a part of history and there’s no way I’m gonna delete a picture of me and my former girlfriend on the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France and other interesting pictures plus my mom was in some of them no way.

u 6 moI don't even keep pictures in the first place... so that's just not a dilemma for me, lol
20 Reply I do not keep most pictures anyway. I am ruthless deciding what is a picture I want to look at when i am in my 80s

6 moIf it were me I'd probably delete them if the relationship turned out to be traumatic but if it was more just "we work really well as good friends but just simply not as lovers" then I probably wouldn't delete them.

6 moDefinitely most of the romantic ones. But I think that shit about deleting absolutely all your pics is crazy. I'd never want to invest in another person if I just threw it all away every time it didn't work out. Just feels shallow.
