Why do some people try so hard to convince another to like them?

I kind of disagree with the part of friendships/partnerships being "easy"

back in high-school and then in college... ending up in a relationship with my girlfriends at the time was not "easy" lol

yes, they liked me as much as I liked them or perhaps more and yes, we were very much into each other but because of a couple other factors, we didn't end up in a relationship right away, certainly not easily... lol

and the, the other kind of partners... at work for example, or even your family... and in my case, sports

you cannot always choose who are your teammates and sometimes you can't stand them, or they can't stand you and you just don't get along, however... you can still end up making it work and in some cases even do a full turn around and end up being friends as well... and I've been there for sure, a couple of times, lol

but yeah, no... I've never tried to convince anybody to like me
