I think it's more related to feelings of anxiety...
you mention insecurity but confident people can also experience anxiety but often, are able to control these EMOTIONS, you see... emotions can be very difficult to control sometimes and moreso when these are connected to your childhood or your earlier years
but... it is all related and tied up in the complexity
someone that's still needy... is just someone who hasn't managed to find a better way to deal with the anxiety that anybody, confident or not... might experience at some point or some circumstances
Isn’t insecurity the consequence of low self esteem?
Maybe.

Absolutely both. What qualifies as "needy" varies from person to person, though, bc some folks think "needy" is just physical while others understand that the constant verbal and emotional validation is required (and often is very overwhelming to the person who is supposed to satisfy the needy person).
Needy = craving validation and comfort (sometimes reasonably but often times at a constant rate that no one can keep up with).
Typically the mental gap in the needy person comes from some sort of trauma/abuse, inferiority complex (e. g., constant comparison to others either from oneself or from parents, etc.), anxiety issue (e. g., manic depression) or feelings of self worth (e. g., "imposter syndrome").
It's difficult to let a needy person down or to step away from them, but setting boundaries and giving them protocols for how and when you're capable of offering validation and solace is essential for their wellbeing and yours.
I would have to say both..
When you know who you are. what you want you make sure she get it all. so You give it all. But if something happens you also know the other side and its not needy or insecurity , it's you have boundaries and you stick to them.. and those two things dont event enter in to the picture.
Those are intrinsically connected issues. So… yes. Ell oh ell!
Both. However it could also be a traumatic brain injury compounded by growing up in a very religious home that strongly taught pride was sinful and where humility was encouraged and virtuous. Also, maybe your dad was a bit hard on your mom and she often told you this, therefore after receiving sone head traumas a relationship fell into your lap and you began to formulate some ridiculous co-dependence - every time someone tried to flirt with you - its suddenly your fault - the bitch started acting crazy but your dumbass loved her and you must prove it to her during and after her own insecure manipulative tirade by doing a b or c and in so doing developing more insecurity feeding into lower self-worth.
It depends of your life, your job, your business,, your financial status, your nature sometime situations being you needy or your future worries make you needy but if you feel burden about that be hardwork and one day you out come from this word needy
It's reflection of egoism in most cases. Why? Because the person who needs another ones never care if another individual has time, mood, desire or motivation to spend time with them.
In mature relationships is spending time together a mutual agreement, but needy people don't care they just want their ego caressed by the person they crave for.
In my experience, yes. And it’s not healthy because if you want a healthy relationship you have to let the other person still have a life of their own. And no, I don’t mean them going out all the time partying or always doing things without you. But in my experience, the neediness and insecurity of the person caused them to be controlling and jealous as much I proved myself to be honest and loyal. It caused me to lose myself and dim my light. I also would walk on egg shells and I stopped having a life besides that person while they still had their life and their hobbies. That’s not healthy.
It depends entirely on the person. Are they seeking constant validation? Lack of self-worth. Or are they trying to limit their partner's freedom? Insecurity. But they are closely intertwined and one usually comes with the other.
I think it is a reflection of the person being emotionally abused = a lack of self confidence, self worth, and the need of emotional connection of another person.
It can be, but not necessarily. Some people just like different levels of attention.
I think its irrelevant because most Women do not find either attractive in a Man.
Well that is true
It’s both, maybe trauma or a personality disorder or just a fault of being neurotic.
insecurity. Some people are not secure in their relationship and try to hard to hang onto it.
Aren't insecurity and low self worth two sides of the same coin?
It can also be unbridled enthusiasm, misinterpreted. Or just personality style.
Actually a bit of both. It's a product a lack of attachment to parents growing up.
Both, plus weak.
A needy man because seriously unattractive to women as she will start seeing you as a child.
I'm sure it's a combo of both.
@coachTanthony I think BOTH, Coach.
