What’s something your partner didn’t expect about you… until they experienced it?

People think they’ve figured you out… until they get close enough to see the other side. My ex was surprised by me in two very different ways.

One… I’m a lot more passionate and adventurous than I seem at first…there’s a side of me you don’t really see until you’re close enough lol

And two… I can go completely cold the moment I feel disrespected, especially if it involves people I care about. That switch tends to catch people off guard.

I've Been Told that I can be cold and distant

And I have always agreed with that because when I have met people or even these girls I have been at work and when I'm getting paid to do something I'm kind of cold and distant cuz I'm getting paid for it I want to finish it

But after the next time meeting them while doing nothing they said I'm completely all different person funny relaxed in tune

And then after dating they see me when I'm around kids or pets and they can't believe how much they just cling to me and follow me around

And the caring side of me I help a lot of people just out of the blue even if I don't know them if I see that they need help and I can help them I do it

Work-wise on selfish with my time but my free time my time is other people's time in a roundabout way especially if I'm helping somebody

And then the passionate side of me the carrying the giving the touch the romantic very sensual side of a guy that it doesn't look like he would give that time of day LOL and I can't believe that on that side of me and that's just because I like to melt them I like to become one and I like to make all about them

And I can't take a compliment LOL and that's just because it's all good don't get mushy over it LOL

But most have said they have never met anybody like me and I always smile and say is that a good thing or a bad thing because I am just me and I don't like to be like anybody else anyway

She was shocked that I could play a musical instrument - and even more shocked that I could play several.

At first, she was a little surprised that I could cook, but less so when she learned that I grill a lot. The baking blew her mind a little though.

She knows I like music and that I DJ, but we went to a birthday party for my sister's boyfriend's daughter, and one of the boyfriend's brothers had his band there. I was talking with the drummer, and he told me to sit in so he could run to the store. My girlfriend just smirked like I was messing around, but then we played a few songs and she was dumbfounded. Then I moved over to the keyboard and she nearly passed out.

She is starting to actually believe me when I say that I know how to do things, even if I rarely do them anymore. I have done a lot of different things in my life, many out of necessity of being too broke to pay someone else, and some just because I wasn't afraid to try (and fail). She said that the men she knew growing up tended to only do a couple of things and rarely tried to go outside their existing areas of knowledge, so American attitudes and willingness to try things is still a new concept to her.

I can come across as very outgoing/extroverted when I meet people and that I’m always going out on adventures with friends especially when I’m single. If you’re around me enough I don’t actually go out with other people that much and I’m pretty introverted I just know how to socialize. My fiancé was surprised at how introverted I am 😅 It’s easier to hide when you need to recharge if you’re not around someone all the time

My definition of adventurous is someone who likes hiking and camping…. Likes to take on challenges. As well as passionate about things that matter. What I don’t respect is someone pretending to be one thing and they are really another….. that’s gross and disrespectful I respect someone more who’s outwardly a hoe in the sexual sense.

Secondly intentional disrespect is a major issue now in many cases communication is key if they genuinely don’t know they’re being disrespectful. But there are people that’s better to just leave alone.

Something unexpected about me? I generally seem pretty serious clean cut strait laced people have asked me before if I worked for the government. I think a lot of people are genuinely surprised when I’m really a goof ball and some say I have a good sense of humor. I can also act very childish not so much in an immature way but as in being silly and cutting up.

I think when it comes to personality, I'm pretty transparent and what you see in the beginning is what you get. Observant and analytical, introspective, a deep thinker, pretty athletic, and always up for adventure, especially or anything outdoorsy. But again that's what you learn in the beginning about me.

I think what surprises my partners is how kinky I am 😂

My wife never left our state until she met me. The first date I took her to an event in a city in the next state. The second date we went to a city 60 miles or so from us. In a couple months we went 5 states away for a long weekend. She has now been to 5 continents and will get to all 7 within 12 months from now. She has been to dozens of countries but I haven’t counted them but it is somewhere around 40. I tell her that with me she got the adventurer, not the romantic.

How truly intense it is when I’m focused on training for a race. My emotions are all over the place because sometimes my mind strives for sometimes unrealistic expectations while my body is telling me that I need to chill. There’s sometimes a miscommunication where I get frustrated because I can be so hard on myself. It’s an emotional internal battle.

Sometimes the people I date don’t particularly understand the standards I set for myself fitness wise. It can be hard sometimes, especially when their passions are very different from mine.

Honestly, how deeply I feel things.

From the outside I might look calm or even a bit detached, but once someone gets close, they realize I notice everything , the small changes, the tone, the energy.
