If he still follows and likes his ex’s posts, does he still love her?

Hi!

I'm a 20y old woman and there's a guy I really like and I think he likes me too. But I'm scared he still secretly loves his ex because they still follow eachother and like eachothers posts (we aren't dating). I think it's weird because she cheated on him and personally, I wouldn't follow someone then. I just saw stuff online about the first love of a guy and maybe that's why, eventhough she hurt him so bad, he still follows her. (by the way some of their family members also follow them still). They had a rocky relationship, often breaking up but now the final breakup was like 3 years ago.

He doesn't talk about her to me though.

Do you think he still thinks about her romantically?

Okay in my opinion, in the US especially, and our generation especially, although it’s slowly improving, men are NOT equipped to be very highly emotionally intelligent, unlike girls. Girls seem to know their feelings, sit in them, allow them to be accepted and pass and go through grieving stages, heal and then make decisions (like deciding to unfollow your ex) and THEN emotionally you are truly over them. And they grieve and have an easier time feeling comfortable crying and seeking someone to console them. Men in US have a high suicide rare I believe because we are taught not to TRULY grieve and feel and we feel extremely embarrassed and uncomfortable talking to someone through tears until you practice. If you stuff down your feelings, they won't go away until you eventually deal with them. I’ve learned this as a man in my 20s because I was a paramedic and had such bad PTSD I needed help and education on mental health.
Why so I say this? He may be trying to get over his ex but not really know how. Or he is still into her and is just unable to accept what she did, that cheating is (should be) unacceptable to him and then grieve the loss and experience then he would probably not have any feelings for her. Even forgive her. And he would be fully focused on you after that. Unfortunately for you women out there, us men have been set up for communication and emotional failure. It’s going to take a while to fix it. Maybe find a European guy or a Canadian or someone from a 3rd world country they have much higher emotional intelligence in my experience.
Or he could just be a player that’s a big problem in our generation. Tinder and such teaches people to get accustomed to the excitement of meeting TONS of people at the same time, this affects women too. They get addicted to talking to 15 different girls or guys at once and more to swipe on, it’s a dopamine rush.
So ya maybe he’s not gotten fully over her or he’s a player. Not trying to judge or make assumptions.

Social media is retarded gayshit. Even following strangers is not ok unless it is educational. Any girl who thinks it's ok for her boyfriend to ogle someone else's selfies and tits is also a red damn flag. And if even there is no drooling, what the hell do their daily lives mean? Life is filled with enough to learn, but people choose know more about others than about themselves or about what matters.

What exactly does he like about that bitch? It sounds like they dream up moments together as opposed to an occasional "hope you're ok". There is no love, never was, she was his first emotional-lust.

It doesn't affect you physically, but he is an animal. And what you all call "love" is merely emotional lust. Carnal attachment. If he loved her in the divine way he would stop feeding her impulisive animalistic attachment. ㅤ

Him following and liking her posts doesn’t automatically mean he’s still in love. It can be habit, nostalgia, or just being civil, especially after years. Big green flag that he doesn’t talk about her constantly.

Red flag would be comparing you to her or running back when she snaps. For now, focus on how he treats you, not his Instagram thumb.

I'll be straightforward here: I can't understand how you would like a guy who was cheated on by his ex and has no respect for himself, still follows her, still likes her posts, and she does the same thing back. He said how painful it was yet still wants to be connected, and she knows he's a weak simp. He probably does still like her, and definitely wants her attention. That whole situation there is messed up. If someone cheats on me, I'm done for good. I don't want to hold on to them.

Please do not make the mistake so many women do of "having feelings" for messed up guys, or pursuing them with the ridiculous idea that they can heal him or whatever. You can find better.

I feel weird when I see people in general still have their ex’s photos, follow their posts, and talk about them openly infront of their current love. I can only imagine the awkwardness from within, I don’t get it. (Since he doesn’t talk about it to you, that means he isn’t as obsessed ig that they are friends I don't know)

They could be friends and all, but you’d have to ask him the current “situation” and if you feel the answer is disingenuous or the burden is too great then don’t date the person. It is their loss, not your loss after all.
