Birds of a feather flock together. People have realized this throughout history. There's a modern saying that if you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with.

While this isn't entirely true, there is some truth behind it.

The more in control we are of our own lives, the more we can choose who we want in our lives. Humans are social creatures. In our younger years especially, we imitate people we think are cool or look up to... the way they speak, the way they move, just their overall personality in general. We try to take all the aspects we like and eventually we turn out however we do.

Your personality doesn't change as much later on in life, but you still tend to attract the same kinds of people as yourself. You want to associate with people who have similar views and values, interests, sense of humor, etc. It's also more fun to be around those kinds of people because you think alike.

And the same goes for the kinds of partners you attract. You attract what you are.

To some degree.

Case in point, tRump is surrounded by scumbag sycophants because tRump is himself a world class scumbag. He seeks out those people and they flock to wealth and fame like moths to a flame.

On the flipside in the military and in business good leaders generally attract good people because those people want to be part of something meaningful and those leaders are looking for people like themselves.

And in the middle, mediocre people who don't really care about anything tend to end up surrounded by other apathetic people faking it to make it.

I have to disagree. I seem to attract wolves in sheep's clothing and end up paying for it because I thought they were my friend.😔

I both agree and disagree. I think for the most part people attract who they deserve. If you want the best, be your best.

I’d say: partly true. You don’t always attract what you are, but you do attract what you *tolerate* and what you *believe* you deserve. Confident, healed people usually filter out toxic lovebombers faster. But good people can still attract walking red flags. The real power is in what you choose to keep, not just what you attract.

I’m conflicted about that one, because I’ve attracted some pretty amazing people over the years … present company especially.
But I’ve also attracted some people I wouldn’t want to associate with.
It was flattering nonetheless but I wouldn’t say that I’m similar to everyone who’s ever been attracted to me
