Do you lie in your relationships at times or are you completely honest?

I am asking this question because I notice so many people lie in their relationships to keep the peace or to prevent arguing and fighting with each other and unfortunately that is stupid to do , when you lie to your partner you are just putting a band aid on things but eventually that band aid will come off and that little lie you kept secret is now going to bite ya in the ass a lot harder making it harder for

Much based off of lies instead of honesty and reality , so I stop lying completely to girls’ and by doing that my relationships with girls’ lasted a lot longer than before. Why lying is stupid to do , So don’t lie in your relationship?

Nah, I don't lie. There have been some hard truths in nearly two years. I am glad we have been honest though. Despite having to tell and hear a hard truth from time to time, it is for the best. After, I get over it quickly knowing that it is just reality.

Exactly you get over it quicker because it was honesty over blowing smoke up your ass , and unfortunately a lot of people choose to blow smoke up their partners asses instead of being honest and then it eventually bites them in ass harder for lying and keeping it a secret for that long. It shows lack of respect to your partner when you lie to them , so if they dump you for it , you sadly dug your own grave by lying in the first place. Trust me there were times I didn’t want to tell my partner things that I messed up on or mistakes I have made because I knew it would piss her off and make her upset , but I still told her the truth and yes she was still pissed off and upset at me still , but she also respected the fact that I was honest to her and not blowing smoke up her ass. Which made her not as pissed off or upset at me. People that lie on relationships are only hurting themselves and wasting their partners’ time because the liar is basically in a relationship that isn’t reality , they are in a relationship all by themselves thinking they do no wrong and are perfect and everything is fine and dandy until the truth shines and they have no other option but to suffer the consequences and more than likely lose their partner for doing so.

Yep, agree. I'll give a recent example. I was supposed to go visit my boyfriend for the weekend. We don't get many weekends that line up, so we have to make use of the ones we do.

Honestly, it was a shit week. I was tired. Work had sucked. It was hot all week. I was just beat by Friday. Like, literally drained. I flat out told him I didn't want to drive. I felt like crap having to be honest and tell him I just wasn't up for it because I knew he would be so disappointed.

It hurt me too because it isn't like I wasn't dying to see him. I just had no battery left and needed a weekend to recharge. I felt awful but quickly got over having to tell him because I felt good being honest. I also know the type of guy he is. He was disappointed but understanding. We both got over it. Better than making up some lie.

Exactly , that was the respectful thing to do on your part. , if more people were like that with each other , most relationships would last a lot longer than they do now. Back when I was younger there were times I lied to my girlfriend and didn’t think it was that big of a deal so I just put it off to the side like no biggie , until it became a biggie , and then I realized I was wrong to do that to her , and suffered the consequences of my actions when she decided to leave me. NOBODY is 100% honest. The fabric of social connection would unravel if lies were eliminated completely. Things like "does this dress make me look fat"?😆 or "is my 🍆 big enough"? Those are flagged to automatically lie. Because to tell the other person the truth would hurt them (sometimes beyond repair).

But i do think a person should try to be as honest as humanly possible.

Well I'm not in a relationship right now , but when you live in a place where " saving face " is the norm , full on honesty and confrontation just simply does not cut it , I understand the concept , but full ( in your face ) honesty , at that particular moment.

I agree but unfortunately not everyone does the same , I had my fair share of lying girls’ that told me everything I wanted to hear to find out eventually she was lying to me the whole time. So I no longer trust people immediately until I get to know them and see how they consistently treat me in return. Otherwise Ii won’t stay with them long term whatsoever

You’re totally right. Lying to “keep the peace” is fake peace. It’s like emotional ghosting in slow motion. I’m honest in my marriage, but I’ll use soft honesty, not brutal honesty. Tiny white lies like “your hair looks fine” are one thing, but hiding feelings, mistakes, or intentions is a massive red flag.
