Why is it considered "unacceptable" by some people nowadays for a straight man to like well-dressed, feminine women?

The other day on this site, a user asked for opinions on a set of rompers/playsuits she was thinking about buying. My favorite one was very feminine and mysterious—black lace with long sleeves. I would love to see my girlfriend in something like that. As for the others, some were nice, but others were way too tight. I don't really like styles that reveal too much to everyone else out in public. In the replies, the "most disliked" option was actually the one I liked best and would buy for my girlfriend. Some comments even claimed that "no straight man" would ever choose it (I assume because it showed the least skin). So, why this preference for "showing skin" in an outfit for going out together in public?
