My ex lied about a car accident dream—could he be a sociopath?

We was suppose to go on a date... he said that he had to cancel because he had a terrible dream of me. He seen me in a car accident and hit by a truck. He said it scared him and he didn't want to drive, So he canceled the plans. Weeks later he admitted that he made the whole dream up. I was pissed and I stopped talking to him. Than weeks later I found out his nephew got into a car accident and died. I feel really bad... Should I reach out? But Do sociopath lied about something so huge?

This doesn’t justify you calling him a sociopath for one. Do you even understand the definition of a sociopath? A lot of women tend to diagnose men w all these psychological disorders but aren’t even qualified for one. Two they don’t even know the definition. Yes repeated lying among many other things would fit that definition of a sociopath, but even than I don’t think you’re qualified to diagnose it. Does he constantly lie? If so then why are you still dating him? If that’s the case then maybe something is wrong w you as well. But I’d start w finding out why he lied. Maybe you reacted in a negative manner when he cancelled on you before, so he didn’t want to go through that again. Him lying about why he cancelled isn’t as big of a lie as if he cheated. Unless he was out cheating w someone else. What I’m saying is I think you’re blowing this out of proportion. Maybe he feels like he can’t be honest w you. Maybe you should start there. As for his family member dying, if you care about him that much then put your pride aside. If this is a constant thing, the lying then you need to move on. But if he’s been a good boyfriend overall, then this isn’t worth potentially losing a relationship.
