Have you ever learned someone you thought disliked you actually cared?

I got a great new job and quit the old one. I have worked at my previous workplace for over three years. And I was often late, sometimes I went there whenever I wanted to, I took holidays and when they said I couldn’t I would tell them “I am not asking you I am letting you know”, so I was kind of on my own schedule 😁 At first they protested but then got used to it. Because I did my job pretty well.

But I always had tiny bit of guilt about it and felt shy and thought they disliked me, yesterday as I was packing my things and leaving, the boss who was initially frustrated about my lateness, she got her eyes teary, and hugged me and told me “I am going to miss you so much!”

I was surprised, didn’t expect. Thought she didn’t like me… I don’t know if I expressed my feelings clearly, but that moment melt my heart.
