Trending & News Have you ever ghosted someone you actually cared about because you were too scared to witness them get hurt?

No. But one thing i've learned is that women have a very LOOSE definition for the term "ghosted". a lot of women will consider themselves "ghosted" if you reject them. Because a lot of them consider themselves in a relationship with you from the minute she catches feelings. Not when or even IF you date.
So just because i say i've never ghosted a woman before does not mean she didn't feel i ghosted her.
The worst thing i ever did in my mind was just not answer a woman that asked me out. I was young and stupid, and couldn't fathom any woman looking at that as rejection or as losing me as a loss.
No good person wants to hurt another persons feelings. But a non answer is worse.
Well, I don't ghost people, but I have a lot of difficulties starting conversations, even with people I care a lot about, so, not really, but sometimes it seems like it.
Cannot be confused when, a guy I was friends with was hitting on me (I'm straight, so, I told him sadly, I could not reciprocate...), he started some pretty fucked up shenanigans (and I mean it... involved his little brother in a situation that ended up in the hospital and the police), then I blocked the mf and cut all ties to their family...
Long story short: ghosting is running from emotional responsability, but if people are messed up, cut ties without a second tought!
I don’t ghost, block, or remove people I know or consider friends.. but that’s me. To me, doing that shows immaturity and arrogance and it’ll hurt people. If I ever feel I’m hurting someone, I’ll step away…but I’ll let them know. I believe in having enough respect and maturity to communicate instead of simply blocking or cutting people off.. but if people choose otherwise, it’s what it’s…
Look, you can only wan a person about someone bad in their lives. After that it's up to them to reach out.
My aim on GAG is to decode messy hearts and tricky behaviors… and oh yes, this is one of them 😏
Yes, people do ghost someone they care about out of fear. It’s avoidance dressed up as “protecting them.” Still a red flag. If you care, you communicate. Ghosting doesn’t spare them pain, it just adds confusion and self-doubt. Brave love > cowardly silence every time.

I'm SEVENTY-THREE. I wouldn't know how to ghost someone.(Are there black ghosts? We were termed "spooks" in World War Two, especially by the all-black Tuskegee Airmen who called their brother flyers that name.)
Thanks, RachyRach.
I nominate this for top 5 threads of the year
No not really.
That’s just an excuse to spare yourself the trouble to have the conversation.
I always suck it up and have it.
The only times I ghosted someone was when she didn’t take the very explicit hint that wasn’t working
(Not a girlfriend but more of a fling)
Generally I don’t like it.
I think people we care about deserve closure.
It’s selfish to deny them that.
Id be too ashamed of myself to ghost someone. It's the same thing as crying before taking a test in school or using someone weaker than you as a human shield.
I have moved on from people, but everyone does that; it is called life. 'Ghosting' is just a trendy tag which in reality means fuck all.
Nope I don't ghost people no matter the issue, but Im only in places I know I'm wanted or needed, if I get a feeling that I'm pushing on something that seems forced I simply just let it die off until they reach out again, if they ever do
No.. if I stop messaging someone or ignore their messages its cuz I have no more use for them, tho most who keep messaging I tell them why lol
You've got mail 📬 wink
It's an excellent dating movie I still need to watch on DVD - I kind of know the ending as I saw it whoops 😋🫣
I didn't even know ghosting exists
but also, I've never done relationships through the phone
1. I don't ghost.
2. Every woman with whom I've had a relationship has been a good one. It just did not work out.
3. I never want to intentionally hurt someone, but neither am I afraid to witness it.
No, I really cared for them I would stay especially if I thought they may need me later..
No ghosting. I'm good in explaining so I explained why I have to go.
I don’t believe in ghosting someone who genuinely cares about me. I’d rather have an honest, direct conversation even when it’s uncomfortable and leave things with mutual respect.
I personally have not done that. But I've known people who have.
You can just say goodbye. It's not that hard to do.
No I only ghosted someone when they give the creepy but I won't talk after the date.
I've never ghosted anyone. I think that's the cowards way out. If you want to go be adult enough to tell that person.
Nope but sometimes ghosting some people is necessary
Nope, never done that.
I’ve heard of that happening
@RachyRach hey darling, that’s cute
No. I do not believe in ghosting anyone
I have no idea what that means? LOL
No, that seems like a silly reason
Never ghosted but been ghosted
Lots of times
No I haven't
That sounds cowardly
Nope
