Do you give trust freely or believe trust must be earned first?

Which mindset do you live by? Have you ever regretted choosing your approach?

I am usually quick to trust until they give me a reason not to and then it's incredibly hard for me to believe them again. It's kind of like the thought process of innocent until proven guilty.

Respect is different though where I do believe that has to be earned first.

I start with *basic* trust, but keep the deep, vulnerable, heart-on-the-table trust earned. Think “trial period,” not full subscription.

just not fully nor blindly

and after that, adjust it... can be "earned or lost" depending on the situations

I naturally try to see the good in people before I'm given a reason not to. My level of trust varies depending on the person and whether I'm comfortable with them or not.

Somemetimes people assume that I'm easy to take advantage of when in actuality I trust them less than they think.

In my case trust must be earned. Though, it's nor terribly difficult to earn my trust. - That's just intuitive to me, a gut feel.

I don't regret that approach.
