Anyway, he's rarely sappy or romantic normally and it got my thinking... Drunk words, are they sober thoughts or just rubbish?

Downers like alcohol make you say crazy sh*t, but it tends to be real - even if only for that time. The thing is, they ROMANTICISE everything. Everything seems SO f***ing good. Less so with alcohol, but it still applies. So, he loves you, lah-de-dah, he puts that away in his head, he doesn't think about that too much, but after a lot of drink, it becomes this holy and beautiful thing that he must *exclaim*! It's pure honesty, but it's under-the-influence honestly, if you get me. It's like... When you walk when you're drunk, you still walk, but it's allover the place. The sh*t you say when you're drunk follows the same mechanics, right?
I agree with this answer and I believe the first sentence sums it all up pretty good...
Thanks =]

This is how you get girls, apparently. Be able to coherently discuss alcohol.
Thanks for BA!

Drunk words are sober thoughts. (Un)fortunately often they're said with regret later. Or embarrassment. :P I've been in the latter situation. I go into work afterward and have someone just look at me with a raised eyebrow like Spock from Star Trek, and I just bow my head and shake it cause I barely remembered a thing. :P
But I do think that some good can come of such expressions at times. If you're speaking from the heart, well...it may not be wise but it's at least being honest. :) Reason enough for some hope or wisdom perhaps?
i know that drinking lowers inhibitions and all... but I don't trust anything that my boyfriend says when he's had a lot to drink. even if he means it, it might not be something that he was ready to say sober, and might not want to talk about it when he is. I think it's easier to believe things when they're being spoken on a clear mind.
Normally I say all the stuff that I have thought in my head and have decided that it should stay in my head and never leave my mouth .
The truth un censored ...
In this case, his words were sober thoughts but in other cases, I don't think you can generally take what a drunk person says that seriously.
Drunken words are usually somewhat sober thoughts... to an extent. I think they always at least stem from a sober thought.

Drunken words are more often rubbish than not. But when it comes to declarations like that, they usually are sober thoughts. Wen I'm drunk I almost always call or text someone about something that was on my mind for a while.
Alcohol basically lowers inhibitions and removes the filter that usually exists between a person's brain and their mouth.
A drunk person speaks a sober mind is how the saying goes. They usually spit out what is on their mind with 0 restraint...
