What are signs of a protective boyfriend?

I am not talking about an obsessive boyfriend or anything. I am talking about the loving, caring kind of protective. What are some realistic signs?

Keeping you near when there are sketchy looking people around or going through a crowd. An arm around your shoulder. His hand in yours.

Reacting when you want to or go walking out at night or in the woods, by the lake.

Making sure you're comfortable and safe.

If you feel like you're being controlled or guilty for something you would have otherwise not felt guilty about, it can be a problem. Though, I know some of the things I did were "unsafe", I would still do them. It was nice to have someone care about it though. And I did think more about it.

Just caring about your over all well being. My boyfriend tells me to call or text when I get in safely when we're leaving each other and to drive slow.

He'll definitely care about your well-being and feelings. So small things like giving you his coat if you feel cold at night, walk you home at night, watching your back or holding you closer in crowded/sketchy situations. To extremes like knocking some jerk out hitting on you or making you feel uncomfortable at a bar or club.
