What counts as a long distance relationship?

Assuming you both have a car or similar mode of transportation, what do you consider to be long distance (excluding traffic delays).

I am wondering because I personally consider 2 hours relatively easy and like right on the line

I just got out of a 6 hour LDR and I just read a comment where someone was talking about their one hour LDR and thought "that isn't a LDR, hmm what does the rest of the GAG community think?"

Oh, and keep in mind that the poll is the shortest distance you would consider long distance.

Anything where I can't walk or bike to my significant other.

20 minutes to an hour away.

One to three hours away.

Three to six hours away.

Six plus hours away.

I saw her twice a month for a weekend at a time. If you guys want to say how often you would travel your LDR that would be nice too!

Honestly, I think it also depends on how often you're able to see each other. If you're 8 hours away but you have the money and time to visit each other often, it's not that bad. Especially if you can afford flying.

But in general, I voted D. I recently tried a 2-hour drive and it didn't seem very far at all. The 8 hours it takes to drive to Illinois (where my boyfriend is most of the time)... Torture. I took a break halfway and had to draaag myself back into the car :P

My boyfriend and I stay with each other for a week in June, a week in August, and a week around New Year's, because those are the only times our college breaks overlap.

Even 6 isn't a huge deal. if I can get there before the night is up, it's no big deal at all.. just sleep on the bus. woopdy doo.

20 hours, on a bus is _not_ fun. even 20 hours on a train gets to be too much.

anything over 19 hours by bus, or train is difficult. but not out of my range of willingness.

There's an hour between my boyfriend & I, and it's really nothing at all! Especially if we are just getting dinner & hanging out for the evening, because we can met in the middle.

1 hour is definitely not an LDR. It's gotta be such a big distance that your visits are limited greatly, for example only one weekend a month or something. Otherwise it's not really a long distance relationship because the majority of the relationship isn't necessarily online or something.

Yours sounds like a legit LDR. 6 hours apart, twice a month visits... sounds about right.

I think that 2 hours is a fair way to drive to visit your loved one. It's definitely not something I would really want to be doing everyday, maybe not even every weekend.

I'm awful at goodbyes though and I don't think I'd feel like driving 2 hours to get home.
