My boyfriend's mom suddenly doesn't like me?

My boyfriend and I have been together nearly three years. His mom and I have always had a great relationship, and has been encouraging us to get married all the time. We used to talk on the phone/FB quite frequently (about every other day), but recently, she has been acting like our conversations are a burden. Normally when someone brings up my future with my boyfriend she gets excited, but she kind of shrugged it off the other day. Nothing has changed in my relationship with my boyfriend, and I do not remember saying or doing anything that might upset her. Is this normal? I'm very hurt and frustrated. She is notorious for disliking girlfriends, and I am the only one she's ever liked.

The biggest stab was that my parents invited his parents to come stay with them for Christmas. We've visited them many times over the years, but they have never been here. Were both in college now and can't afford to travel. She turned my mom down because she "doesn't want to be in cold weather "... Which I feel is a terrible excuse.

My boyfriend just told me that she asked him to move us both closer to them a while back, and he told them that we were very happy building a home and a life where we were. Maybe that upset he

Oh I know this one too well! For about the first year of dating my boyfriend everything was great! We talked a lot, we went places together but when things started to get more serious between my boyfriend and I that's when she got weird. My situation is a little more complex though, my boyfriend has a child from a previous relationship and his mom started to try to break us up to get them back together. I'll tell you what I've been told for 4 years now. You don't have to like your boyfriends mom but be respectful because you love your boyfriend. I know it's hard to handle because you want to be accepted by your boyfriends family. They may be your in-laws one day, so they will be your family. Just worry about making you and your boyfriend happy, once she realizes how happy you make him, she might come around.

Well I wish she'd just speak up and say so then... Honestly, we live on the other side of the country, so that leaves little opportunity to mess up. I'm always respectful when we talk, and try to not overstep boundaries. I seriously can't think of anything!

What do you mean you live in the other side of the country? like you drive that far just to see your bf?

No, my boyfriend and I live on the west coast and his family lives in the south.

We talked a little. I think she's upset that we chose to stay close to my family, rather than move south. But, that was a decision he and I made together.
