Which quality do you want to an extreme more than any other?

Would it lead to less fights or resentment if they didn't mix or combine responsibilities?

Today my wife did. I went to work this morning just like i always do, My wife texts me after i get there but i dont get it until 30 minutes later because i was in a meeting. Apparently she has locked her self out of our home. I get there, she's crying, I hug her and tell her its okay, that its happened to me a number of times and so on. Well she's now mad at me, because get this... I'm not mad at her. She expected me to be mad at her, and because I'm not she's mad that I'm not mad.

I'm so fucking confused.

Guys and girls, has this kind of thing ever happened to you?

First and foremost, lying is a NET POSITIVE as it has evolved among ALL species studied for the propensity for deception. The simple, harsh truth is that liars gain advantage and people who do not lie or cannot tell they're being lied to are, inferior, from an evolutionary standpoint. Suck it up. Liars win. Marks lose.

Lies we tell to PROTECT OURSELVES:

We might lie to avoid punishment. For example, children often lie about whether they have completed their homework. If they tell the truth, their parents might insist that the homework be done immediately, which could preclude their participation in a recreational activity.

We might lie to prevent ourselves from being embarrassed about behavior we regret or because we don’t want to reveal private information that might be used against us. We may worry that public awareness of such information can cause us stress or anxiety.

We might lie to avoid conflict. For example, a spouse may choose not to tell the truth about how they feel about their spouse’s behavior for fear that an uncomfortable disagreement might arise.

We might lie to gain social acceptance from a particular group. For example, we might feign interest in a subject matter to join a group that extols that subject. Or, we could post partial truths or fabrications on social media to become popular.

We might lie to get ahead in a competition or business. For example, a businessman might falsely claim great success in the past to secure a new business interest. Such lies can also make us feel better about ourselves when others believe us.

We might lie in a relationship to maintain control. For example, we might falsely state that we have brought a lot of money into a partnership.

Lies we tell to protect others:

We might lie about an illegal activity undertaken by a friend so that the friend does not suffer from negative consequences.

We might lie about something to spare the feelings of someone else.

So I have a friend that is a woman, and she’s in a committed relationship. I’m also friends with her partner. I’ve known both of them for almost 10 years. At any rate, last weekend we were camping, and he (her partner) had to go back a day early. Nothing happened between us, but some of my social circle disapproves of this. Stating we shouldn’t have camped together. We didn’t share a tent, we just had a conversation around the campfire. Afterwards we slept in different tents and the next day packed up. And drove home together. So my question is for both Girls and Guys, is this acceptable behavior for two adults?

Assuming you don't feel the same way

Imagine you meet the person of your life, the one where you say : everything is perfect, I could spend the rest of my life with him/her.

You can only choose one of two options:

1. A short-lived romance lasting only 3 months, where you get to experience everything you ever wanted, but you inevitably break up and will never see him/her again. He/she will only be present in your memories.

2. A long-lasting friendship. You never get to experience what you'd love to experience, but he/she will be a close friend for the rest of your life. You see him/her occasionally, but this also means seeing that person with a partner. He/she will be present in your everyday life, but there is a distance that you will never be able to close.

Which would you prefer and why?

This couple that I know.

Before they got together, they are always on their phones, even when they are hanging out with each other or with other people. Sometimes, the guy would randomly openly tease her and she would smile.

After getting together, they are still on their phones despite being next to each other (No, they are not playing the same apps or smt like that. They indulge in their own apps.)

I see some other couples do this as well where both partners are beside each other but using phones all the time, even when eating at restaurants.

It's like there is almost no communication between the two persons.

With me though, the girl can be communicative, so I don't think she is necessarily the quiet type, although it's normal for her to be quiet around new faces.

Has anyone been in such a relationship? Can this kind of relationship really work?
