I agree with this but feel I should point out that most theologians take the point of view that gods omnipotence is limited by logic - he can't make 1 + 1 = 3 and can't make a stone so heavy he can't lift it, etc...
And to that end, the existence of free will necessitates evil, and thus his desire to give free will brings about evil as a logical consequence, and so they accept that god is not all powerful in *that* case, limited by choice and logic.

I'm sick of answering that same question all the time. God created beings with their own mind and emotions. He didn't create robots.
They choose to be evil inculding Lucifer. Yes God knew Lucifer was going to do evil, but by God not giving Lucifer his ability to think and feel free then by default he wouldn't have free will and just would have been a robot.
Then again, he also made free will a virtue. Being omnipotent, he could have just made us not long for free will (or at least have made it an illusion). That would allow us to enjoy our lives without having free will, yet being controlled in such a way that we are good people.
There's no such thing as free will.
Our personalities are determined by our genetics and the environment we grew up in. Someone born in Syria or Somalia won't share the same moral values as someone who was raised in America. It's a fact.
