I have always thought the same - Religion should play no part in a child's life until 16/18 then they could being giving the choice of choosing to follow a religion or not.

Well that's true for some religions but not for others some actually do force and impose their will upon people.

That's more to the point... You can say I'll kill you for not going to church, and you go because you don't want to die, but does that mean, oh, now you believe that way? Probably not. You will probably come to resent that religion or the people who have forced you to go. That's not having faith or believing in anything but your own survival.
that's not how the human mind works miss You grow up shaved and carved from a mix of your genetic predisposition and your environmental aspects
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. if your family believes it and shoves it down your throat There is a high chance you'll become conditioned to accept it and now it has become you
It sure does They rule their country with religion. Go to 50,000 Islamic homes and at least 40,000 of those homes will be ruled by the quran rules n stuff
most people have a relaxed view on the religion from other places
@TripleAce Well, you could say the same for literally any religion. Look around at X country, the majority believes this way---but if we get people one on one in a room without the threat of persecution, how many at the very least would have questions about their religion, or who's to say just because they claim to be of faith, which could be out of fear alone, that they actually believe in it's teachings and aren't just going through the motions because everyone does it. Hard to jump ship on your religion if say you're Amish and the punishment for leaving the faith and the culture is total excommunication or for others, death or beatings--so a lot do stay and play along for the rest of their lives.
I'm an Ordained minister, But the most I will do is (And only if people ask) Is tell people what I believe and let them make up their own minds afterwards I don't believe everything in the bible either.
True , although , religions are man-made traditions implemented to advert the truth of the Bible it's self. Having your spirit born again through Christ Jesus is a one on one relationship , not evolving anyone but you and the Lord.

Oh, but the Catholics and Moslems have certainly tried over the years.
A little torture, mutilation, fear, and head chopping can go a long way towards reforming one's heart.
I totally agree.
I've always found religious types don't like questions very much. Religion tends to fall apart very quickly when questioned.
Amen. (No pun intended). People act like faith is a choice. It isn't. When something sounds like a crock of BS, you can't MAKE yourself believe it.

Well in that sense yes you are right.

@TripleAce Works in the Islamic world right?
It sure does

@TripleAce Indeed.

Spirituality is a personal thing. Only when transformed you can start to affect others by example.
As a Christian gone rogue (Agnostic/Atheist) I approve this message.

The mind doesn't work that way
People become condintioned
It shoudnt be religion, but we should have faith at least
Faith in what?
It’s definitely true that one has to choose it for him/herself
I agree. Children do not have the maturity to deal with something so complex. And wanting to make them understand and accept as adults is too much.
Muslims do the most. Christians also.
I was religious... Until I was 7 and could think by myself.
I totally agree with you, 100%. I think that religion comes from the inside, it can't be forced but you can definitely explain and talk about it.

You are right but that hasn't stopped, nor will it stop, people of all religions from trying to force the horse to drink.
yeah! i believe in shinto cuz it's not tough. i love this take.
+1000000000000000. God gives us choice to accept him or not. And it's up to the individual to decide.
Correct, people are free to choose Hell.
