Atheism causes nihilism and moral relativism. It creates a society that doesn't even take the issue of right and wrong seriously. And that to me is supreme evil: refusal to judge or live up to serious moral standards.
@goaded Not think, its not an opinion but rather due to substantial evidence that he seemed to have a strong dislike for religion. Again, substantial evidence to an extreme degree. en.wikipedia.org/.../Religious_views_of_Adolf_Hitler Its not supposition, its his own statements that make people consider him atheist as he rejected religion and looked down on it.
@hellionthesagereborn I wouln't trust any mainstream literature regarding Hitler, they are all recycled propaganda. Wikipedia is among the worst sources out there. Hitler certainly supported the Christian church.
Hitler was NOT a Christian. He grew up in the Catholic Church as a boy, but never showed any support for it as an adult. He tolerated it at best, though a lot of clergy were imprisoned by his regime when they spoke against the Nazi's. He sometimes appealed to it in speeches, but that was because Germany was predominately Christian and he was trying to win influence. It is apparent from the journals of others that after the war he wanted to eventually replace it with a religion based on teutonic mythology.
Germany was largely Christian but the Nazi Party sought to minimize and subvert the influence of both the Catholic and Protestant churches. As far as Hitler being openly a Christian, that is patently 100% false. Private religious schools were shut down under the Nazi regime, and SS member were encouraged to leave the church, though there was no punishment for not complying as long as it didn't interfere with their duties. At one point the public schools were ordered to remove religious symbols, but this was rescinded due to public outcry.
The Nazi's never acted to ban Christianity as such, but it is likely that Hitler's tolerance was out of posthumous respect for his adored mother, a pious Catholic, and a need to keep the masses complacent, rather than any respect for the religion.
Then why would they close religious schools? Many of the Nazi leaders wanted to move more actively against the churches, but were concerned about public opinion. Sorry but your knowledge of that period is apparently lacking.
@goaded Hitler was the greatest leader of the 20th century, the man who fought the bankers and created a healthy nation-state, dedicated to the welfare of its people and affirmation of its identity. Unfortunately, such a country had to be destroyed. Regarding Christianity, Hitler never attacked it, and it remained the religion of Germany. It is another piece of Jewish propaganda that Hitler was not even a Christian. I guess he has to be a monster that exists on a separate plane. It is total nonsense.
@goaded I never claimed atheism=bad nor did I suggest Christianity=good, that would be really weird of me to do so considering that I am not Christian, or any religion for that matter. I simply pointed out that the atheist claim that they are morally superior is entirely false, that their claim that they are some how more rational simply "Because" is also entirely false. I don't have an opinion on the morality of atheism in and of itself because its not a moral question, its a question of preference more then anything else.
Religion is not the root of all evil. It is the cause of a lot of bad things throughout history, and also a lot of good. But evil exists completely independent of religion. The root of evil is human nature.
A lot of scientific discoveries were advanced by the pursuit of God to be fair. I'm not religious, but it's undeniable the whole it set is back, it did push us forward.

I don't think religion is the root of all evil. The misuse of religion (or whatever your belief is) is much worse.
Atheism causes nihilism and moral relativism. It creates a society that doesn't even take the issue of right and wrong seriously. And that to me is supreme evil: refusal to judge or live up to serious moral standards.
Wasn't Hitler an Atheist?
@goaded He was a Christian, and Germany was very Christian back then.
@hellionthesagereborn, @zagor, and @EllezBellez98 (excellent nym, btw!) all seem to think he was an atheist.

@zagor Hitler was openly a Christian, and so was Germany back then.

@zagor Not true. The regime supported Christianity 100%.
Then why would they close religious schools? Many of the Nazi leaders wanted to move more actively against the churches, but were concerned about public opinion. Sorry but your knowledge of that period is apparently lacking.
@zagor The fact remains that they saw Christianity as the only legitimate religion.

As I said, its pretty well established that hitler was atheist (or at least irreligious).
I was just messing with you guys. It was pretty obvious you were all going with the idea that Atheist=Bad, Christan=Good.
You just disagreed about whether Hitler was good or bad. :)
@HansHoth 88? 14? HH? Please.
FWIW, I don't think Hitler was a christian, but exploiting christianity made what he did easier.

@hellionthesagereborn You're quite right, yes. Sorry.

Not all, that's just false, but quite a bit.
Worst evil is just stupidity.
You are zoned out. Very cliche, we can't use absolutely nothing of your take.
religion is not a root of all evil but the people who think tht they are above it and ask stupid questions like this one
Only that kind that wants to make you join in, because that does not show they'd leave freedom of choice with you
Religion not humans? Lol
I would rather ask why some people are evil never really found an answer
When the military go to invade another country they ask permission from the gov not mosque or chruch
no. morality is subjective and evil doesn't exist.
this is some entry level edgy atheism
HAHAHAHAH no
sin, satan, and his followers are the root of all evil
Glory to My Lord Jesus Christ above the waters
Religion is not the root of all evil.
Self-Interest is the root of all evil.

Greed is the root of all evil.
