Why you should be a positive thinker

Jesus said that he desired mercy and not sacrifice meaning God is more interested in your tolerance and compassion and mercy, than He is with your sacrifice and social performance and moral correctness.

I remember in my early 20s, I made the mistake of trying to date a very religious guy - he told me he was offended by comments I made about the bible that he did not agree with and that I was unworthy of his friendship because I had insulted God with my faulty interpretations of the bible.

The question I would ask you or him or anybody is - have you ever met somebody who interprets the bible perfectly? I've met one who did not make errors in judgment out of the thousands I've talked to but that might be because we only had a handful of conversations on scripture and it does not necessarily mean that overall he is blameless in bible analysis.

The fact is everybody is a combination of good and evil - you have to try to protect and love and nourish and expand what is good in others - and not focus on condemning and destroying and punishing what is bad.

Even horrible people have good qualities - if you fail to see value in others - God will ignore your good works cause you ignore the good works of others.

God is far more lenient with the flawed person who sees the good in others - than He is with the morally superior person who purposely denies all the good qualities of others.

And a good quality isn't always a virtue or moral blessing - it could be something as plane and unexceptional as the very existence and conscious presence of the person as an abiding entity on earth - even human beings who do not contribute due to disability or sickness have infinitely high value to God by virtue of their being created in His image.

To see beauty in others is far more important to God than to perform exceptionally great in your daily tasks.
