Why I struggled with worshiping God when I first believed

The Bible teaches that you can’t receive new powers until you forget the past, but I was unwilling to let the past go because I thought my salvation was dependent on my sacrifice and hard work and not on the love of God. Forgiveness is the condition of worship and worship is the precondition for power and power is the precondition for happiness and happiness is the precondition for freedom, so forget the past because the mercies of the Lord are new every morning.

Interesting. I struggled with worshipping God because I was afraid of burning in hell for all eternity instead of seeing my dead mother in heaven.

I believe there is an importance and connection to all of Gods chosen suggested traits. If we follow them, good will clearly result

The greatest commandment that Jesus gave us, "Love one another as I have loved you".
What does that mean for me?
I serve at the pleasure of the President. But when that President goes against the teachings of the Savior, I no longer serve the President.
Salvation is elusive. You may do good things your whole life, but if you don't have love for your fellow mankind, it means nothing to the Kingdom of God.
Concurrently, though you may be an atheist in your mind, God knows what's in your heart.
I serve at the pleasure of my God first. Then my family, then my country.

How can one see their life. Says those things and tell themselves to believe but not sure what they believe or what even counts as belief enough to count as faith in something that has only left confused holes in my ideas as I read and question to study. And yet think. It'll be ok. When even the scripture warns of becoming disqualified in their faith.
