Why Prayers Often Go Unanswered

Jesus said to begin a prayer with a selfless perspective and when asking for your needs, to pray in the communal collective meaning you include the needs of others along with your own. So prayer is about serving God’s kingdom and this means serving others.

If you pray for others, God will give you the things you need, even when you do not ask for it but when you pray only for yourself and ignore the needs and interests of others, God does not give you the things you need since you refuse to share your blessing with others around you who are also in need.

So to get what you need, you must pray for other people to get what they need and to get what you want, you must pray for others to get what they want and your prayers must honour God and not vain or selfish interest. God knows you prefer steak to pork, you don’t have to pray for a steak dinner, serve God and let God worry about your happiness when He chooses to.

I wouldn’t say no prayers go unanswered, I believed they are answered maybe not in our timing or we might have overseen prayers that where answered, because I know from experience that my prayers where all answered but they weren’t answered immediately it takes many years for me, and sometimes I don’t even realized that they where answered because I tend to forget, but over time I realize that they where answered

I have pondered this a lot and this is my personal verdict. Prayers are taking place throughout the day and night. It’s a 247 service. Don’t think that they only occur when you place your hands together or lay your head down in a mosque or however else you pray. When you go to the supermarket prayer is in action. When you visit the bank it’s taking place. Be careful with the words you use, as they are contributing to your karma. Don’t just do good, think and speak good.

Prayer works exactly as well as not praying. People who pray devoutly fare no better than people who don't. A lot of religious people in Kentucky and elsewhere were killed or had their homes destroyed by tornadoes. I expect many prayed every day and it did them no good.

I raised my son to pray since he was a little boy. When I became very sick and bedbound for 16 year's, my son would pray for me to get well. He would pray long and hard even though he has learning disabilities. Then as the year's went by and I was still sick and stuck in bed he came to my bedside and asked why God wouldn't make me better after all of his earnest prayers. I was wondering the same thing, believe me. The only thing I could come up with was to tell him that we believe in God, we just don't know how he operates.

Prayer is just self-therapy. There is no one on the other end granting wishes. Indeed, it is the height of faithless to pray for anything at all, as doing so is to tell the all powerful all knowing god that whatever he had planned was wrong and he should do what you want, instead.

Prayers never go unanswered. God answers prayers every time. He sometimes answers “yes”, sometimes “no”, and sometimes “wait”. The main reason why he answers “no” is because He knows what is best for us. He answers “no” because He’s going to give us something better than what we asked for.

Nowadays I very often pray for others. They are on this site and they need it. I ask God to help them, I hope He will.

It's easy to be selfish in prayers. I believe God works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.
