One thing that frustrates me about religious people

I do not like Christians or Hindus or Buddhists or any religion on earth that sacrifices morality for theology, I believe morality and theology should be friends that help each other and not enemies that try to destroy each other.

I rejected a friend I met earlier this year because he kept lecturing me on how God does not expect bible obedience because Jesus died on the cross to forgive us.

I thought, anybody who tries to stop you from obeying bible verses on avoiding theft and rules about not lying to people or rules on offering kindness to the needy, anyone who denies that doing this is God’s will, is an annoying waste of conversation time and mental strain.

I don’t mind talking to somebody who disagrees, but if they both refuse to change their view and also want to change yours, I’m going to have to say good bye.

Unfortunately throughout the history of mankind there is this thing called a mob mentality. The need to belong to a set of beliefs, conform to those expectations, and everyone else is wrong/destined to burn in hell if they do not conform to those beliefs. If you do not conform to their beliefs, they will shove their beliefs down your throat until you give in and start following in the name of “saving” you. 🙄


Both the right and the left of all faiths and belief systems are at fault for behaving in this manner. Who are we to know if our version of faith is truly the one faith to get us to eternal paradise? We don’t know because we are not ethereal beings: just made in the image of one. All we can do is try to be the best people we can be, respect others for their faith, practice our own faith to the best of our abilities, and hope that it is enough.

as a Christian in my opinion one should treat the Bible as "it is what it is" meaninh if the Bible says that this or that is a sin then it is a sin. but that's why Jesus died for us because we are all unworthy sinners. we are just creatures. we are nothinh before God.


and this is also the reason that we shouldn't be judging other people, we shouldn't feel holier than thou, we shouldn't feel entitled to go to heaven just because we think we are good person.


i think one of the best example here is Christians judging people who are part of the lgbtq. being part of the lgbtq isn't a sin. it is rhe sexual intercourse of same gwnder that is the sin. but then again if you read the new testament Jesus himself said those who are lusting a woman's body other than his spouse will also go to hell.


there are also other sins mentioned that if you commit it you will go to hell so you see nobody is exempted. that's why it is important that one should just focus on having a relationship with Jesus...

Really depends.

But I have met a lot of religious people that seem to be very myopic. They have their beliefs and that it that. I have two uncles that are super-Christians. They will talk all day and night about how Christian they are and lecture everyone around them about how they are living in sin and how Jesus suffered therefore we too must suffer. If you dare disagree with them on anything they will get into a fine shouting match with you about how you need to obey the Church ( they are both Catholic) and one should bow down to the Church and bla, bla , bla bla... it is a most insufferable form of arrogant bullshit.

I think there is some kind of higher power up there but I am skeptical about organized religion and anyone with a morally superior holier than than thou attitude. I see this in a lot of religious people. As far as organized religion , like I said , I am very skeptical about much of it - there are many huckster and snake oil salesmen in Christianity ( I am sure it is similar for other religions but I am not very familiar with those ie. Judaism or Islam).

Case in point - I was raised in the Catholic Church and they teach us that the Church is the one true Church establish by Jesus himself and that we must always obey the teachings of the Church and that the Pope is infallible. When I was in high school I began to see the many hypocrisies of the Catholic Church (and also many Protestant denominations) for example the extreme love of money and also sexual abuse of tens of thousands of boys ( and to a lesser extent girls) by Catholic priests the world over.

This was a turning point for me to know that the Church I was raised in was systematically covering up the sexual abuse of so many kids through out the world.

I am Christian by definition. I also have issue with religion. Religion divides where there should be unity. Not worth discussing. Talking about the Bible is worth discussing but let’s not be theologians. 😀
You are doing great trying to be holy and follow some laws you enjoy following. Jesus said to love God and to love others that we would fulfill the law. And without Jesus there is no reason to obey any law. And that “salvation through Jesus alone” is narrow minded and why many have issue with Christianity. I’m very narrow minded.

The issue is that the left is intolerant to ANYTHING outside of their realm of beliefs. That they are so myopic. Every single religious person on the planet believes that their religion is the "One True Religion©". Except that they can't all be right. They can all be wrong. And the vast majority of them are even unwilling to consider the idea that they might be wrong. And they claim to be religious yet ignore half of what their religious texts say. Goodness. I won't even get started. I have not had any good experiences with certain religions. Mainly, Christianity. Most religious folks that I have experienced are extremely judgmental and very hypocritical. Since I am a gay guy, I have had some 'interesting' experiences with mostly Christians, but there has been a few who were of the Islamic religion too. I am not a fan of either and with good reason. I will stick with my own Pagan belief system.
