Can a person be religious (Muslim or Christian) and part of the LGBTQ community. Why or why not?

The answer is "No". The Bible clearly calls it an "abomination" in the old testament, and states int eh New Testament that you "shall not inherit the Kingdom of God" if you do those things.
I don't know why I should be required to tell people, you cannot obey God and at the same time be a sexual reprobate or any other form of reprobate or hedonist.
Are you so-called "Christian" lgbtq people incapable of learning or something? Or are you just willfully disobedient to your professed God?
You people have been told the CORRECT answer countless times in the past, and re-asking the same question a day or a year or ten years later does NOT change the correct answer.
The correct answer is your professed religion's founders said "NO" therefore the answer is "No".
The Correct answer si you were created male and female and are commanded to procreate with the opposite gender, and gender is defined by whether you were born with a penis or a vagina, not what you "feel like beieving" about yourself or someone else.
God didn't command you to obey if you "felt like it". He said "OBEY... I set before you Life or death, blessing and cursing, therefore choose life."
The law of God is not a Democracy, and further, this whole notion of Democratically voting on what should or should not be a crime is also not a legitimate Democracy. Any man-made law which does not agree with God's law is not a legitimate law. You can "legalize" lgbtq and abortion all you want, but I dare you to commit those acts, because the day you do, both "Natural law" and the written Law of God tells you that you will NOT inherit the Kingdom fo God because of those things.
PROOF.
Your religions's founder said, "Not everyone who says unto me, "Lord, Lord" shall enter into the Kingdom of God, BUT HE WHO DOETH THE WILL OF THE FATHER.
That verb conjugation "Doeth" is present progressive, which means you must CONTINUALLY do good all of your life in order to be "Saved", and homosexuality and transsexualism are not only "not good" but they are "abomination" the worst sin imaginable short of murder is lgbtq. That's what the word "abomination" means.
If you go by what the Bible says, because that is the foudning document of all three Abrahamic religions, then LGBTQ is not only BANNED from Heaven, but they are supposed to be put to death by their own family if and when they are discovered.
Moreover, fi you go by what the Bible says, a Woman is never supposed to be a priest or pastor and is never supposed to have authority over a man: Period. The term "priestess" or "Prophetess" in the Bible does not refer to a woman in the office of priest or prophet, a s that is specifically forbidden, but rahter refers to a woman who is married to a priest or prophet. Which also proves the catholic celibate priest thing as being unbiblical. The Priests in the Old Testament of the Bible are required to be married to exactly one wife to hold office, and if they are divorced they can no longer serve in the office of a priest or prophet UNLESS they remain celibate AFTER the divorce, w hich would indicate the divorce wasn't their own fault but that of a whoring wife..
Let me add that gays can be saved. There is one thing to be gay in your head and yet not practice homosexual acts. If they repent of their sin and profess Jesus as their Savior they will be saved. Romans 10:8
But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with your heart you believe and are justified, and with your mouth you confess and are saved.…
@Daniela 1982 I have been reading your replies on this question thread and I must say you're pretty sound!!
When you say gays can be saved, do you mean in the sense of what Jesus did on the cross or in a "conversation therapy" way. Also it seems like quite a lot to suppress these desires for the rest of your life. I am Christian and I can tell you it's hard!!! Very, not even the same was lying, lust or stealing is. A lot of people say to "pray" about it but is that even realistic? I have prayed several times but I still have these desires and I kind of feel like I might have to choose one; faith or...
Depends on what your prayer is. 1 Cor 10:13 - "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." In your prayers you can ask God to lessen your desires that you may escape the bondage of sin. Mathew 7:7-11 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: …
Matthew 18:19
Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
You have to have faith in what you ask God. If it is His will (asking for money will probably not be His will for you) it will be yours. It just takes faith. So if you ask God to lessen and remove your sexual desires that go against His word it will happen.
I guess yeah, they're completely able to do so. The real question lie in are they permitted to do so or not without breaking the set 'rules' in their religion. I've noticed a lot of Christians here saying stuff like, "Yeah, God/Jesus loves everyone, including homosexuals." and I find that a little unusual to make homosexuality a sin, and then love those who commit it... To clarify before hand, I'm not religious. I'm an atheist. However, I study anthropology and I've read several holy books, including the Christian Bible, and after reading these peoples' posts, these quotes came to mind:
1. Leviticus 18:12 - "You shall not lie with a man as with a woman; it is an abomination."
2. Leviticus 20:13 - "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them."
3. 1 Corinthians 6:9
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,"
4. Romans 1:26-27
"For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error."
And those are just a few of many.
So, these not only says that it's a big no-no, but that whoever does it should be killed. Explain that, would ya?
Both my friends are a part of the LGBTQ community. One is asexual and the other is bisexual. Both their parents are extremely religious. One is a Hindu and the other is a Christian. They’ve still not come out to their parents yet, because
- their parents think it’s a “sin”
- they fear that their parents would care more about what the ‘society’ thinks than their children’s happiness.
- yes, they’re religious too
If God loves everyone, then shouldn’t he love people who are “different” than the majority as well? Is it the PEOPLE who think it’s an “abomination” or is it God? Just live your life. Don’t get dazed by people who judge you for who you are who you want to be. A person’s sexual orientation shouldn’t be a sin. Be happy.
don’t get fazed*
While it may not be something you can control (like having a crush or finding someone attractive), in the Bible it's a sin. Like participating in it is a sin (hooking up, dating, marriage, etc...). God doesn't love you any less, and everyone has a certain sin and temptation they try to deal with, for example gambling, gossiping, lying, cursing, and being unforgiving. He loves all, and wants you to draw near to him (I'm talking about Yahweh).
With love 💕

A person who does not perfectly follow the sexuality expectations of their faith is not a total heretic to their religious doctrine. I had a friend who said people are complex and a sexual habit is only one aspect of the overall person you talk to.
The accurate but politically incorrect answer is a solid no. However if you are trying to repent from that behavior it’s a different story.
Yes it’s 2022 but just because society has changed it doesn’t mean God has changed his mind on how he wants you to live your life. Of course you will find many Christians, Muslims, Jews yet who struggle with a wide variety of sins. We have faith because we know we are flawed not vice versa.
Openly embracing the LGBTQ doctrine and at the same time claiming you are adherent Christian, Orthodox Jew, Muslim, etc. is complete hypocrisy. Yes Pete Buttigieg does that but it doesn’t mean he’s right.
Anyway true Christians don’t “hate” gay people. Yes there are some Westboro haters out there but most Christians really aren’t like that. Sure the media, far leftists and atheists will constantly claim otherwise but really most churches do not preach fire and brimstone to gay people. We hate the sin but don’t hate the sinner. Very fine line there.
But we aren’t going to tell you that the LGBTQ doctrine is okay either. It is clearly written in the Bible (both old and New Testament) this not okay. Unpopular or not we have to draw the line somewhere.
No, it is not possible.
To be a practising homosexual and claim to be a Jew, Christian, or Muslim would be like claiming to be a meat eating vegetarian.
For Christians and Jews, homosexuality is prohibited by the Bible.
For Christians, see 1 Corinthians 6:9
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.
For Jews, see Leviticus 20:13
13 If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
I will let the Muslims argue their own theology, but I would remind you that Muslims follow the words of the Prophet Muhammed when they throw homosexuals from tall buildings and then stone their corpses.
I hear you and you made pretty solid points there. Since you say "practising", it's okay to have homosexual desires as a religious person but not act on it, superseding your desires for the sake of religion? So it's okay/possible to be homosexual and religious
Yes i think they do, now i'm a christian and i can talk about christians, well people from this community know that they are wrong and shouldn't be like that and the christianity forbidden such things but at the same time they can't change the facts that they were born like that and they still want to believe in god and remains as believers, this part is abouy homosexuals
When it comes to transexual, these people CHOSE to change unlike the homosexuals so their sin is a lot bigger and what they are doing is wrong but they call it a freedom of choice, i'm totally against it but as long as they aren't hurting anyone, than they are free and i cannot judge them, they can deal with god and not me!
Personally i think that love, marriage, sex and a real family can only be achieved between a man and a woman but again others do not have the same belief but still can live the way they want as long as they do not effect us or disrespect us!
I hear you but I don't think any "sin" is bigger than the other
What i meant that if a person was born this way than it's not in his/her hand to change, it wasn't a choice from the 1st place but for others like trans, they went on the wrong path and they chose to be like that, so it's different...
Even though i don't support this whole community at all...
I think you can be, but it draws two questions.
1 - is being gay for example alone a sin. I'd personally say no, because according to religion, life is a test and god tests people in different way and if you don't have the temptation to do bas, you aren't being tested. If you resist the temptation to act upon your sinful desires, then you've passed one of the tests that god has thrown your way.
2 - Even if one acts upon their sinful desires, is the sin they commit that bad, according to their religion, to the point where it makes them a none-believer. Not all sins do that, I don't think and I doubt any believer is sin-free, apart from a holy figure or two.
People spin and twist every given religion in order to make it fit their personal views. So I'm going to say yes and if people in a particular place of worship have an issue with LGBTQ attending their services, the LGBTQ people should start their own. After all every major religion preaches acceptance, only for people to spin it around to be unaccepted for people due to those people not lining up with peoples personal views. So a LGBTQ place of worship and services that can be used and attested by anyone would be a good example for people that who claim to be religious and their views/actions show they are far from it.
A Christian, one who truly follows the Bible cannot be part of the LGBT community. Sure, they can be gay, but they wouldn't celebrate and glamorize this about themselves because they'd know it's a sin.
Of course. And actually a Christian would make sense, since Jesus himself would accept LGBTQ into his church.
Unless if anyone can find me a line where jesus shows Dogmatic hate towards accepting people into his church because I don't think he did nor show any hate towards anybody who was gay.
Then Muslims... well there a weird case because they believe in jesus as a prophet but he contradicts muhammad and muhammed contradicts him then moses also exists... So that's just a whole mess. So unsure if it makes sense but they can still be both although it maybe a sin.
But if you one who believes in Jesus words it wouldn't make sense to have bias against anyone from LGBT nor many other people Jesus was a very open accepting guy not a close minded homophobic.
Being bi or gay etc may or may not be choice for an individual, and as a Muslim, my stance is to respect all types of people no matter what. Now just because I try and respect people, it doesn't mean i support such communities, which if i do, would be open act of rebellion, which is contradicting to the laws I follow. I support being kind and finding goodness in each person.
At the end of the day only God can be the judge of our choices and actions 🙏
No! That is fornication if you are not married, which is a sin. And adultery if you are cheating on your spouse, which is also a sin. So they might be enjoying their sex during their short stay on earth, they will be judged if they don't repent and keep sinning without asking God for forgiveness for the sins they have committed and turn away from those sins.
It is very clearly against Christian beliefs to act upon wrong desires purposefully. We all have our own feelings that conflict with what God wants us to do, and that is normal. It's when we become active in the sins and unrepentant that we can no longer benefit from holy spirit. We in effect leave God to do what we want, just as Adam and Eve did when they sinned.
Because bottom line if you follow the Bible God made man and woman he didn't make men to be with men and women to be with women. But then again you take that up with him when you die and you stand before him like the rest of all of us are going to have to stand before him on things that we've done I'm not judging anybody but I strongly believe in man for a woman not man and man woman and woman
Sure, until you are murdered by your own congregation. In America they just refuse to commune with you, never truly make you a part of the community, and put their money together to limit your rights. So they try to give you a social death.
So you can join be in their church, but have fun enjoying an actual religious church experience.
Or you can join one of those all gay congregations. If I believed in any religion, that's what I would choose.
LGBTQ people seek acceptance and forgiveness just like all other sinners. They'll hide that they are either LGBTQ. They'll have to lie about it since they know religious communities will condemn them. No matter how good they are, keeping up even just that one single lie still makes them sinners.
The Church is a sanctuary from LGBTQ behavior. If there is no intent to change their behavior they aren't religious. That's what religion is all about. They have to be willing to admit that it is a sin against god, that they are sinners and work towards being a better person in the eyes of the lord.
There are rules. You can't go out killing people and consider yourself Christian. You can't disobey the commandments on purpose and say your saved. I'm sorry your gay. Life sucks. As long as a person isn't having a gay relationship you can be part of a church. You just can't cherry pick your sins and rewrite that particular groups views.
The two listed beliefs above, when followed, generally condemn orientations found within LGBTQ+ so I am by sure how anyone would follow the above religions if they belong to this group. But then again that’s just me. As I see them conflicting each other. For example, the pride flag is banned in many countries that subscribe to Islam.
*not sure
it happen, but they hide it
True. Unfortunately. That’s quite an uncomfortable life
yup...
Anyone can come to faith. But your faith should begin to work inside your heart and change your attitude and bring you to the Light.
(However, some churches don't have very good guidance or mentorship infrastructure set up. So I wouldn't necessarily blame someone for slow growth.)
That's like asking if you can be an honest thief.
Also, Jews, Muslims and Christians make up a bulk of the Western believers. But the LGBTQ+ malarkey is nothing to do with religion.
Yes, if they cherry pick what they want to believe, although most religious people do that already, so…
